Áines POV
I was satisfied with the interview, she obviously really wanted it.
It made me wonder though why she did. The decision was down to me as Corin's social worker and i eventually decided that she should take him under her care.
After sitting in my car and checking over files, I decided to text Lexi to meet me at Starbucks so we could get coffee, I also partially guessed she needed a break from work, this case was stressing her out.
I drove to Starbucks and ordered two white hot chocolates. I sat at a table and waited, less than two minutes later she walked threw the door and sat slouched in the chair.
"What's wrong?" I asked while looking at the bags under her eyes.
"Nothing, I just can't figure out this stupid case, I don't know where to go from here!"
She always did complain about cases when she couldn't figure them out. She hated anything beating her, or so she said. I think she feels guilt that she can't stop the murders.
Half an hour passed like two minutes, we walked out to our cars and drove back to the station, I told her there that I decided I would let Katie have Corin. We looked through the door at him playing with the trains. It fascinated me how something so simple can occupy him for hours unend.
"Does Katie know yet?"
"No, not yet, I said I'd leave it an hour or so."
"Yeah, I'd say that's best. Do you have any bookings for the next couple hours?"
"Nope why?"
"I want to look over the files with Liam and every time I do it here I get distracted by Corin."
"Yeah, no problem, you go, I'll watch Corin."
"Ok, thank you so much!"
