Chapter 10

Katie's POV
I was sitting on the edge of my seat listening to the press release. Normally I wouldn't take any notice but it was different. I guess it's partially because I found the body. I noticed while Lexi-Anne was on radio she even sounded pretty.
I was jealous. She was pretty,good job and probably a nice house. Minutes later I sat on my couch and drank a cup of tea. I looked around. The apartment was a mess. The last couple of days had been rough. I got up and began to fold up the blanket that lay on the couch. I opened all windows and took out the polish. I had a couple of days off work so I better get it done now. I put in Eminem's new CD. I love him. He tells it as it is...no sugar coating.
I heard my phone ringing. I looked around trying to locate it. I walked into the bedroom. It was laying on the bed.
Lexi-Anne. Why was she calling?
"Katie?"
"Yes, officer?"
"If your still interested in taking Corin into your care, his social work has agreed to come talk to you and examine your living arrangements on Wednesday."
"Oh my god! Yes! Completely 100%!"
"Ok that's good news! Have a nice day."
"Thank you. You too"
I was overwhelmed. I couldn't believe it. Things were actually about to go my way.
I kept cleaning, rapping along to Eminem.
This was the happiest I had been in a long time.
Two hours later I was finally finished. I had swept, hoovered and polished everything. The smell was strong. I decided to go for a run and let the smell escape. I put on my track suits and an Adidas top I had bought in Kilkenny. I looked at myself in the mirror. Wow. I looked terrible. Before I went I rang the hairdressers. I made an appointment for tomorrow morning. I debated weather to do the shopping now or tomorrow. I decided it would be best tomorrow. I locked up the apartment. I was so excited for the challenges that were going to be ahead of me.
