Chapter 11

Katie's POV
My alarm woke me at 8:30am but today I didn't mind one bit. I had the hairdressers in an hour. I was going to dye my hair a dark brown and layer it. I liked the thought of it. Then maybe I would go to the shops and buy a new outfit for Wednesday. Nothing classy, just something new.
Then of course grocery shopping. I liked walking out into the kitchen now that it was so clean. I threw on some leggings and a cheap blue top, grabbed my handbag and the shopping list I made the night before. I locked the apartment and left. I walked to the hairdressers. I had my earphones in. Nothing could destroy the mood I was in. I heard somebody call my name. I took out my earphones and looked around to find a man, I didn't recognise running towards me.
"Are you Katie Brooks?"
I looked at him confused.
"Yes, why?"
"I was wondering if you had time to get a quick coffee?"
I presumed he was press and said no politely.
" I'm not press if that's what you think."
I could swear he was reading my mind.
"How do you know me then?"
"I'm a rookie. I was with officer Liam the day you spoke to them about the little boy, Corin right?"
"Yes, Corin. Am I in some sort of trouble that we need to have coffee?" I asked playfully.
"No.." He laughed. He was quite attractive. "I thought the way you were so worried about the boy showed your sort of personality. It's hard to find that in girls these days."
I looked at him and giggled like a twelve year old girl.
"Yes, of course I'll have coffee with you."
I had nearly an hour left anyway. Grocery shopping could wait until after I get my hair done.
We sat and talked but to my surprise not about the case. He was genuine. Nice and actually interested.
45 minutes passed like a second.
"I don't mean to be rude but I really must go. I have a hair appointment."
He stood up after me. I opened my bag to get out money but he had already paid.
"My treat"
I thought that was very sweet.
"Maybe if your not too busy tonight we could go see a movie..."
He looked up at me. His eyes were a beautiful strong shade of blue.
"Of course, I'd love that"
He walked me to the hairdressers. It was so easy to talk to him. When he asked me about my family, I left out all the bad parts. We were now standing outside the hair dressers.
"I'll pick you up at eight."
He winked as his walked away.
I walked in with a goofy smile on my face.
I sat down and waited for my appointment to be called.

She was finally finished. I wouldn't allow myself to look into the mirror while she was styling. I opened my eyes. I was astonished. She had done a wonderful job. I walked to the reception where I paid. Only €50. Things were defiantly going my way.
I walked to the clothes shops. I seen jeans that really caught my eye. I walked in a looked for a size 10. They were on sale. €40 gone down to €15. I bought them and looked out for a nice top. I walked into PRIMARK. There stuff was cheap but also very pretty. I found a very nice flowery top. I picked up some makeup at the drugstore also. While looking around I realised I have nothing to wear tonight. I mean I guess some jeans and a top. I could wear these jeans and get another top. I bought a white top. Tight at the top and flows out a little at the end. I had heels at home so that would do. Lastly I walked down to the grocery shop.
I searched for the shopping list in my bag. After almost emptying my bag I remembered it was in my pocket. I walked around quickly and got my stuff.
I was walking home when I walked past the electrical store. Televisions were on sale. I guess I should get one. How else would I entertain a child. I decided I wouldn't buy one until I was certain that Corin would be in my care. As soon as I walked into the apartment I put all my bags on my bed and went for a shower. I spent around half an hour in the shower. After getting out I straightened my hair. I still couldn't believe it was my hair. It's beautiful. I put on my makeup and new clothes. I walked around in my slippers until half 7. Then I got into my heels. Not soon after I heard a knock at the door.
