"Boy, she's going to sleep with me tonight."

"Mommy!!" Alberth's voice is the first one I hear after Merlin's portal disappears. I immediately kneel down and welcome Alberth in my arms.

"I miss you, mommy." Alberth tightens his hug to me.  My hand gently strokes his smooth silky hair. It's as if it has been a long time since I smell his calming bubbly scent.

"How have you been?"

"Much better now." Alberth lifts his head and smiles at me.

"Welcome back, sis." Kenn slowly walks to us with his bright smile as always.

"How have you been, Kenn?"

"I'm good but something started to happen these past few days."

Kenn's voice suddenly sounds more serious.

"What do you mean?"

"We can talk about that later." Karl carries Alberth in his arm, one of his hand pulls me closer making me look up at him.

"Time to rest." He says without looking at me. I raise one of my eyebrow. His attitude is back to normal now. Where is the Karl that begged me to come back here with him? Well, whatever.

I look around, trying to find Merlin but it looks like he disappeared right after we got here.

"Mommy, can you sleep with me tonight?" Alberth says from Karl's shoulder.

I smile and nod. "Of course."

Karl suddenly looks at Alberth. "Boy, she's going to sleep with me tonight."

"Oh my God, don't fight over something small." I shake my head, looking at those two.

Karl suddenly looks at me with his poker face. "Wife, you're not something small."

I roll my eyes and we continue walking. As we go up the stairs, my mind can't get over what Kenn said. What happened when I was gone? Surely, no matter how hard I try to forget about it just for a while, I just can't.

"Karl, did something bad happen while I was gone?"

Karl stops reading, he lifts his head and looks at me. I keep staring at him as I gently pat Alberth's head. He's taking a nap right now.

"Hmm." He's back with his cold self.

"What is it?"

"Our guards found some kids dead bodies near the forest, the villagers are starting to move to another place to avoid their kids being murdered."

"Murdered?" that word somehow suddenly reminds me of Gerry and Tiana.

"Where is Alberth's friends?" I ask Karl.

"They are still at the castle. I asked the maid to prepare a room for them." I smile. Well, at least Karl is not that villain to abandon them.

But even so, it still makes me feel worried about the other kids. My mind suddenly flies to the mask man that got away when Duke Amberg kidnapped me. Is this his doing? It must be him. But how do I find him?
