"What the fuck?"

Dave jerked away and glanced at the doorway. Karkat stood there, eyes wide. His color drained from his face comically, and Dave would have laughed if this wasn't Karkat and this was any other situation.

"I think I'll go get some punch..." Jade pulled away and scampered away, shooting a glance at Dave as she went.

"Karkat..." Dave reached out to him but Karkat flinched back, shot one teary eyed glance at him and headed for the stairs.

"Wait! Karkat!" Dave sprinted after him, knocking over some trolls and climbing up the stairs to the roof.

He heard sobbing before he saw him. Dave reached the top of the stairs and glanced around to see Karkat facing the double moonrise, head on his knees. He crept closer quietly, but Karkat spun around and saw him.

"Karkat, are you..."

Karkat turned his back on him again and wrapped his arms around his knees. Dave sat down next to him, feeling him shaking through his shirt.

"G-go away..." He finally hissed. "I don't want you here."

"Too bad." Dave said simply, pulling his knees up too and staring out at the moons.

Karkat sobbed softly some more, finally quieting down once the sun had disappeared completely. He tried his eyes and scowled at Dave. "I said go away."

"We need to talk."

Karkat opened his mouth, probably to make a snappy retort, but closed it again and just looked away. "I was gonna apologize but then your dumb ass is kissing a girl..."

"Yeah, that ones on me. I'm sorry." Dave responded.

"Don't have to apologize, dummy." Karkat rubbed his eyes again and sighed. "I fucked up, it was my fault."

Dave shrugged and said, "Its your shitty brother that's the problem, not you. No offense, he is kind of an asshole."

Karkat sighed. "I thought it would be better if I did what he wanted. I always wanted a big brother, even when I was a little grub."

"Mm, mine was pretty bad."

"Dirk?"

"Yeah, we always picked fights. To be fair, I broke his Xbox a lot..."

Karkat chuckled and looked at Dave. "I am sorry, though. I shouldn't have done what I did, and I don't want you to be sad again 'cause of me."

Dave smiled at him. "Apology accepted, Kitkat."

"Oh Jegus, not that again..."

"Aw c'mon you love it." Dave elbowed him playfully while he laughed. "Its cute!"

"Ugh it is NOT." He smiled anyway and leaned against Dave. He was a little surprised but wrapped his arm around him anyway.

"I love you, Karkat."

"Love you too, Dave."
