Be the nubby-horned troll

I woke up first, and turned over to see a human lying in my not-a-cocoon bed. I stiffened at first but then relaxed when I realized it was Dave. I pretended to be asleep to see what he would do. He got out of bed and looked at me to make sure I was asleep, but then he went over to his bed and lay down. What? He's going to pretend it never happened? There were times when I forgot what happened until he told me and, yeah, he didn't like me but... I rolled out of bed, not giving a shit anymore. He grinned at me, that stupid adorable grin. He still had his shades off, having just 'woken up' and his red eyes were like rubys dancing in the sunlight. Dammit, Karkat, stop staring at his eyes.

"You sleep aright last night?" He asked, getting up and walking out of our shared room.

"Fine," I responded, decided to play his charade. We walked out into the kitchen of our shared apartment with Rose and Kanaya. Rose was sitting on the couch, eating a Pop Tart while Kanaya rooted around in the fridge for some troll food. Me, myself, I honestly like human food.

"Hey, Davekat," said Kanaya, calling us our combined name which Dave hated and I secretly loved.

"Hey, Slyph, watch yourself," he said, grabbing a Pop Tart and sitting down next to Rose.

"Hey, Rosey, we grabbing lunch during the break today?" Asked Kanaya, coming over and sitting down next to Rose with her head on her shoulder. God they looked so cute together it was damn annoying.

"Yeah sure. Dave, KitKat, y'all wanna come?" She asked, turning her head to each of us in turn.

I shrugged, and tossed Dave a controller from the pile and turned the Switch on. This was like our morning ritual; Dave would beat me in Mario Kart or some other human game, then the girls would leave for work and we would have the house to ourselves. They left, and I shoved the plates in the sink as Dave went to our room, probably to draw or something.

Time skip

We had finished dinner and I was sitting on the top of the shared hive/apartment building thing. I heard a noise and turned to see Dave coming up. He sat next to me and watched the setting sun, our eyes trained on the same spot on the horizon.
