Capítulo III- El Regreso de Pitch Black
Teardrops glid from Audrey's eyes, splashing on her notebook. Her colored pencil colored in a pigmented peachy brown on the highlights of her hair. Finishing the drawing she drew of herself wearing the queen's crown, her grandmother's poisonous words replayed in her head:
"A lifetime of plans, gone."
"Your mother could hold onto a prince in her sleep."
Audrey was sick of acting like she was okay. Her whole life she had been preparing for a happy ending. Following the rules, stayed in her place, and never asked for anything that wasn't hers, waiting for her perfect time.
And then with a snap of her fingers, everything faded. All because they came to Auradon. Villains were invited to Auradon but not just any villains. The offsprings of the worst villains in the land and they were out living her dream.
Or more accurately the Nightmare Princess was living her dream.
Why should she get to live Audrey's dream? Pandora stole Ben away from her after she was ready to build a life with him. Pandora cheated her way to Ben by spelling him just to get the wand and take off to bring nothing but darkness and fear.
Audrey got up from her bed and picked up a picture with her and Ben. They stood side by side with his arms wrapped around her waist, smiling at the camera. Audrey ran her hand over the smooth glass, reminiscing the old.
Audrey had had him fair and square first, she didn't need a love spell to win him. Yet Ben still called for her name even after an attempt to sabotage. Now, a constant overwhelming feeling of pain runs through her veins, and her thoughts circle on a loop like a toy train.
Then a malicious thought passed her mind.
Audrey traveled to the Museum of Cultural History with a fire iron in her right hand. She broke into the museum and shut off the cameras. Audrey walked to the vault keeping the queens crown. She shoving the curtain out of the way, staring at the shimmering jewels on the crown.
Audrey strutted up the stairs, reaching the glass case protecting the crown. Her grip tightened on the fire iron, raising it high. With a strong swing, the glass shattered. Audrey tossed the fire iron aside. She glared at the crown picking it up, "If I can't have it, no one can."
Before she could destroy the crown a voice stopped her, "Audrey," it called. She whipped her head around glancing where the voice came from. She was the only one in the room with the burgundy curtains surrounding her. "Audrey," it called again.
Audrey stepped down the stairs with the crown in her hand, following the voice down the hall. Her senses were on high alert picking up where the voice had stopped. Audrey glanced up and met with the hall of villains.
"Audrey."
She followed to the room and her eyes landed on Maleficent's scepter.
"Go on, Audrey. Take it," it whispered. She slowly walked to it, drawn to the magical item. Audrey set the crown down on a stand and circled the scepter. "Take it." Pitch appeared out of the shadows behind Audrey. His tall figure toward over her 5'3 body, "Take it."
Audrey turned around and shuffled back, "Who are you?" she questioned.
"Why shouldn't it be easy." The lights in the room dimmed, only the light above them and the scepter illumined the space.
"Pitch," she breathed out. She scooted far back, her back bumped into a pillar. "What do you want?" she held her head up, building a façade remembering what her mother told her. The only way to get rid of fear itself was to stand up to him.
Pitch gave a dark chuckle, "I want what you want, Audrey. Vengeance."
"Then, why are you here?"
"I can give you what you want, vengeance on Pandora."
"Why would you go after your daughter?"
He scoffed, "She turned against me, merely a couple of months ago. Did you know Pandora helped me spread fear even after the coronation?"
Audrey gasped, "No. The uprise in nightmares, that you two. I knew she had something to do with it. This whole time she was lying."
"Yes," he answered. "It's very simple. I want my vengeance on Pandora and you do as well. I could help you get back at her and take Ben back. Isn't that what you fear, that Ben will never see the way he sees Pandora."
"How did-"
"I'm the Boogeyman, I know everyone's fears, that's the one thing I'll always know. I'm afraid your fear's already happened. Ben gave her a promise ring earlier today and she accepted it without hesitation."
"I did. News travels fast around Auradon. Why do you think I'm here?" she snapped. "A villain on the throne, rather than me." Audrey squealed in anger.
"I'm sure that spites you. Look at the sceptre." Pitch casted a brighter light at the scepter. The green stone in the center illuminated their faces. "Take it and together we could stop them."
The scepter's green glow reflected from her eyes begging her to take it. Audrey felt the magic pulling her closer. It possessed her mind, forgetting all the senses she had. She couldn't stop herself even if she tried.
Maleficent's scepter didn't have an alarm or a barrier, it had nothing guarding it like the Fairy Godmother's wand. It was free, unlike any other artifact. Anybody could walk out with the scepter without trying.
Vengeance clouded her mind as she came near the scepter. Audrey was aware of what terrible things it could do but maybe that's what held her back. She needed a taste of evil and then maybe, just maybe they'll accept her if they wanted a villain for a queen.
After all, Audrey felt like she had nothing to lose, she was alone and friendless.
"Take it, Audrey, and you could have Ben and the whole kingdom to yourself. Continue your line of royalty."
Audrey grasped the scepter, a surge of power consumed her whole. Her blond hair with pink and blue streaks was replaced with a gradient of hot pink at the roots to a light blue at the tips. Her perfect pink jumpsuit turned to pale pink with strips of purple-like veins and jewel top.
The sinister smirk plastered on Pitch's face turned to fits of hysterical laughter, "Yes. What do you say?"
Audrey strode to the crown and plopped it on top of her head. It matched the fabulous jewels on her top. Audrey clutched the scepter and wickedly smiled, "If they want a villain for a queen, I'm gonna be one like they've never seen." She will let them sit back and watch them learn. It was Audrey's new agenda for the world to see what she was capable of.
"Very well," says Pitch. His plan was coming together, piece by piece. "I'm sure you'll make an excellent queen."
"The queen of mean," she sighed. Audrey fixed the crown, craving the feeling she getting from the scepters magic. Magic flowed through her veins making her feel vigorous by the second. No, it made her feel like a goddess.
