To fear love is to fear life, and those who fear life are already part dead - Bertrand (Arthur William)
(Marriage and Morals)
I woke up to the sound of someone knocking softly on the door. My eyelids fluttered open. I sat up and looked around.
Where am I? Whose bed is this?
I looked down at myself.
Why am I dressed and in bed? What is going on here?
Then as I scanned the room, the scenes began flying back to me. The mansion, the chandeliers, the servants, Tope and David, and finally, my new room.
Yeah right. I'm in my new home.
The knock came again, a little louder this time. I had almost forgotten that someone was knocking. I scrambled out of bed and rushed to open the big doors. My hand curled against the silver handle and I pulled.
"I'm sorry madam, were you sleeping?" Tope asked apologetically obviously when she saw me yawning.
"Yes, but I'm awake now. What is it?" I drawled rubbing the vestiges of the sleep off my eyes.
"Ah, I'm sorry for waking you up madam but Mrs. Wale told me to tell you that your food was ready."
"No problem, I'll come down now, thank you." She nodded and I shut the door. Ruffling my hair, I walked to one of the huge wardrobes and pulled it open.
I blinked.
There were a swarm of clothes in there!
I think even using a word like clothes is a bit of an understatement for the contents of the wardrobe. Maybe the word apparel would be more appropriate. So let me rephrase.
The vast collection of apparel ranged from flowing dinner gowns to fur lined leather jackets to desiner suits to the largest amount of Ankara prints I had ever seen.
Where am I going to wear all that to?
I rolled my eyes and laughed to myself before absentmindedly pushing the doors closed.
Didn't they put anything casual here? I walked to the other wardrobe and pulled those open too before shutting them back just as quickly.
The rows were filled from one end to the other with hand bags, glittering clutch purses and jewelry, hats, and shoes in all shapes and sizes.Thinking of how much more time I was going to spend if I went on to the other wardrobes, I just resorted to picking something from the things I came back with.
I headed to the corner where they were neatly piled and pulled down my box. Stooping low, I unzipped it and rummaged until I found my favourite pair of crazy jean shorts.

I skipped down the big winding stair case in a hurry to calm my grumbling stomach. I hadn't realized I was this hungry and the sweet aroma of food wafting up my direction wasn't doing so much to help.
Once I reached the bottom stair, I turned left in the direction of the dinning room. Tope had shown it to me when I was going up to my room earlier in the day.
I strolled in, making a noisy show of inhaling the aroma with my eyes closed. Once I opened them, I was met with a sight that sent a jab to my chest.
He's here?
I stared at him propped like a tin soldier at the head of the table, his eyes firmly fixed on me too.
