She who has never lov'd has never liv'd
-John Gray-
(The captives)
In about an hour, I was done with eating and yes, the plan was ready to be executed.
I'm a slow eater like that.
I heard Mrs. Wale say to Mary the day before that his royal self centeredness would be coming home early today and so she should begin preparing his lunch not too long after noon.
My timing was perfect!
I picked up my phone and checked the time again.
12:30pm
I smiled and slid my phone into my pocket and got up heading for the kitchen.
I couldn't see Mrs. Wale but Yusuf was at the entrance of the storage room bending over the carton he brought in earlier.
Maybe she left through the back door.
Occasionally, he'd straighten up lifting out a batch of ceramic plates and walk to place it on the kitchen table before going back.
Mary was at the table busy sorting out the plates and arranging them into the cupboard.Things are just falling into place.
"Mary." I called making my way toward her and she looked up immediately.
"Mada… oh, Charlie." She corrected herself before completing the word and I smirked knowingly at her.
"Have you finished eating?" She asked as she carried another set of the plates to the cupboard.
"Yes I have and thank you, I enjoyed it." I smiled and caressed my stomach. Looking at me, she chuckled shaking her head.
"Now if I had listened to you and reduced the food nko." She cocked her eyebrow daring me to dispute.
"Mary, let's leave that matter nau. You sha want to rub it in." I pulled out one of the chairs at the table and sat down.
"Like I said, it's not every time I get to gloat like this and so when I do, I think I should do it well." She winked at me before shifting her attention to Yusuf who was still busy with the plates in the carton.
"Yusuf!"
"Ma?" He straightened and turned in our direction.
"Go and call Tope, tell her make she come clear madam plates." She told him in Pidgin and he nodded before dashing out.
Mary then returned her attention to me while continuing with the plates.
"So what do you plan on doing today?"
I pulled on a stray strand of hair from my weave and twined it around my finger.
"That's even what I came to talk to you about." I looked away so she won't catch the mischievous glint I'm very sure just flashed through my eyes.
"Okay?"
"Yes. When did Mrs. Wale say Asher is coming back today." I stopped twining my hair and let my hands drop to the table.
She turned to look at me with disbelief mixed with shock written all over her angular face. I expected that.
"Wait, did you just ask me about Oga?" She scrunched up her nose.
"Yes, I did." I smiled innocently at her.
In a beat she was at my side pressing the back of her palm all over my face and neck."Stop that! What are you doing?" I protested doing my best to get her off me.
