Chapter 46

I still can't place it but he seems trustworthy. "I'm Kayla." I say and he frowns a bit. "I've heard that name before. Do you want to talk about what happened?" I shake my head but start talking anyway. "I have a boyfriend and I love him a lot, obviously. It's just.. He's kind of well known, he hates it when I say he's famous." I laugh thinking about it. "And I just don't want to get hate you know. Everyone in de fandom will hate me for being with him. I don't want to give up, but I really feel like it now."

Jim has listened without saying a word but is thinking about it. Well at least I think he is, because he frowns now and then. "Why am I even telling a stranger? You probably don't care.." He chuckles a bit. "Of course I do." He frowns and looks to me again. "Fandom you said? Which one?" I shrug, I've no idea how it's called.

"Well the YouTube one, I don't know another name." He looks confused. "And who's you boyfriend again?" I don't understand why he wants to know. Maybe he knows the YouTube community? "Joe, Sugg. Uh Thatcherjoe on YouTube. Brother of Zoe, Zoella.." I start telling the standard story to describe Joe but he interrupts me. "Yeah I know him. So you're the lucky one of the little Sugg."

I nod slowly. "I think so.." Jim smiles and puts an arm around me. "I make YouTube videos as well.." He whispers. "Joe and Zoe are two of my friends." Now I understand and I feel guilty for not recognizing him. "Oh sorry. I.. I don't watch YouTube videos. I only watched 2 of Zoe and a couple of Joe." He laughs and I laugh too. He cheered me up anyway and I'm happy he did. "You were running as well?" I nod and apparently he was running as well. "I was with Alfie to film a video yesterday and I stayed over, I need to stay fit you know.." I realize Joe was filming with Alfie as well today. "So Joe was with you there?" He nods and slowly steps backwards. "You should come with me to Alfie's house. I bet Joe would love to see you."

I run next to Jim and I hope I run hard enough for him. He's obviously really fit and his long legs make it easier for him to run faster. "Do you see that red car there?" He points to a car on the end of this street. "There it is." He says and I look at him. "Who's the last has to kiss Joe!" I start sprinting as hard as I can to the red car. I know I've no chance as Jim has long legs and is way fitter than me. Only with an inch difference Jim wins.

"Well that was close.." He laughs and I laugh as well. "Yeah, I let you win. I don't mind kissing Joe." I say as a fake excuse and Jim pushes me against my shoulder. We walk to the front door and he opens it. I follow him inside. "Hi Jim! You're back soon!" Jim laughs as he walks into the living room where Joe and Alfie are sitting. "I found someone on the beach.." He puts his hand on my back and pushes me into the living room.

"Kayla?" Alfie looks surprised and Joe even more. "Yeah. Hi." I feel quite awkward now. "I was running and I looked to my left and what I saw was a girl sprinting as if her life depended on it. I followed her and I found her sitting on the beach." Joe stands up and smiles a bit. "Come here." I walk into his arms and realize my makeup is still ruined. Jim explains everything to Joe. "But now, because I won the sprint.." He looks to me and I kiss Joe quick. "There you go." I laugh and Joe looks confused. "Who was last had to kiss you and it was so close, but I lost." I explain quickly.

I pull my knees up to my chin. Zoe jumps next to me on the couch. "Are you okay?" I nod, I'm not sure but I can't change it anymore. I refresh Twitter and Joe has tweeted the video. I hold my breath for a moment.

@joe_sugg: "Here is the video! I'm pretty nervous about uploading this. I hope you all like it!"

He tweeted the link to the video as well. "Do you want to watch it with me?" Zoe asks and I nod. She has connected her laptop to the tv and clicks on the link. She jumps next to me on the couch again and wraps her arm around me. "It will be alright."

Joe made a good video of it. I look to Zoe who smiles at me. "You guys are cute. Kayla, remember, fans can hate a lot, but the most of them are really nice. Just ignore the bad comments. This is your life, not theirs." I nod and I decide to trust Zoe. I guess I'll be okay.

Incoming call of Joe Sugg.
I answer my phone. "Hi Kay! Have you seen the video yet?" Joe sounds excited but also concerned. "Yeah, we just watched it. You did a good job editing boyfriend." I laugh and I sit down on the couch again. "You're okay? Zoe is there for you right?" I cross my legs and nod. "Yes and yes. I'll be okay Joe, really." Well that's what I hope.

I open Twitter and literally my whole timeline is about the new video. I quickly read some tweets. I get more nervous by every new tweet I read. I quickly click on Hanna's account. She, obviously, tweeted about as well.

"Guys! Stop freaking out about this! If Kayla is the one who makes him happy we should be happy for them."

I smile, I wish everyone thought about it like this. I click on Eve's account as well.

"Kayla seems like a cute girl, I don't like the thought of Joe not being single anymore though. Bye Jaspar."

I never thought about Jaspar. People actually shipped them. I switch to my normal account. I changed my @ name two days ago to @kayla_horwitz as that's my whole name and I didn't like the other one anymore. I've too many mentions to read. I see a few really nice tweets like;

"@kayla_horwitz I'm happy that you two are together! You two seem really cute :)"

But also tweets like;

"@kayla_horwitz go away by Joe, he deserves better!!"

I frown and scroll down. I see more lovely tweets than hate tweets so that's a good thing l, right? I really feel the need to tell Hanna about me, about who I really am, but I'm not sure about it. She's a fan as well. I'll dm her, we can FaceTime but without screen 'because a lot people are around'.

"Hi?" I hear a strong Australian accent out of my phone. "Hi! It's me, Kayla." I laugh and shake my head. "You probably think I'm an old man now!" We did this like this a couple times before." I hear her laughing. "No! It's alright! How was your day?" I sigh and think back. "Bad to be honest." She makes an 'aw' noise. "But I bet Joe's video cheered you up in some way! Although he has a girlfriend now, a new video is always good!" I smile and I don't know what to say, she should know. "Well.. Not really." I finally say.

"But I don't understand.. You aren't one of those haters, are you? Listen that other Kayla is cute and Joe seems to be happy with her, you should be too! If you are a real fan his happiness is more important." She sounds quite annoyed. "Yeah but.." She interrupts me. "No nothing but. Joe deserves happiness and if he likes her, we should like her too." I really want to pull my finger of the camera now, but what if she starts treating me differently? She makes my heart melt. I can trust her right? Hanna is my best friend on Twitter.

"Kayla, please, watch that video a couple times and then judge again. Well, actually, I don't care if you like her or not. I like her anyway." I sigh and I get nervous again, I'm just going to do it. "I wish I could like her.." I say and slowly pull my finger away from the camera.
