Jeongguk is up before Yoongi can barge in. 

Today was the day he would get his enchanting legs. 

Today was the day he can finally be a human. 

Today was the day he can finally face Taehyung.

He's all sunshine and rainbows. His siblings comment on his cheery attitude.

"What's gotten into you, JenJen? Did you have a nice dream?", his sister asks. 

Jeongguk shakes his head, still smiling.

"Something better!" 

They all gasp in unison.

"Do you have a secret mermaid you have your eye on?", his brother teases.

"Who is it? Tell us!" 

They all demanded.

Jeongguk shakes his head again. 

"Not telling.", he singsongs. 

"It's a secret." 

They all groan.

"The youngest is definitely growing up." 

They all nod their head in unison too.

Jeongguk looks around the table, gazing at all his siblings. He's going to miss them. He doesn't know when he'll be able to see them again. He doesn't know if he'll ever return to the sea after he's human.

Soon his smile is replaced with a pout. He starts sniffling. His siblings are worried.

"What's wrong, Jen? You were just happy a few minutes ago." 

Jeongguk shrugs, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand.

"I'm just really happy that you guys are my family. I don't know where I would be without you all."

They all wear identical pouts. 

"Stop it, JenJen, it's too early to be like this."

"I'm just thankful for you all."

"We are too! You're the cutest little thing in the whole sea!"

"But where's Dad? I haven't seen him for the last week." 

Jeongguk can't go without seeing his father, but it's this timing that would be the best to sneak off.

"He had business to attend to in the Arctic sea, he won't be back for a while. A wild shark is killing young mermaids."

"Oh." 

Jeongguk slumps in his chair.

"Yeah, and Mama went with him too." 

Jeongguk nods his head, sadly.
