I wake up Sunday and get dressed, I have breakfast with the girls before doing the last of my homework. I can't stop thinking about what my mum said, why does he keep on reaching out and why do I care so much that he's got a girlfriend.
I pack up my things and go to the boys dorm, the girls come with me. Liv goes in Liam's room so we decide to leave. Before we leave I pull Payton to the side.
"Are you ok" he asks trying to look me in the eyes but I avoid eye contact
"Yeah, I mean no. I'm not" I say
"Why what's wrong" he asks sounding concerned
"Can we go somewhere" I ask and he nods
We leave and go to my car. I drive about for a bit before parking in the car park of the park close by. We sit in the car for a bit, in silence. Not awkward silence just silence.
"Are you ok" he asks as we get out
"Not really" I say and he gives me that 'why' look "My dad reached out again, he's two years sober and has a girlfriend" I say
"Oh, wanna talk about it" he asks and I shrug my shoulders
"I don't care about him at all, like if he was to die I wouldn't care at all" I say as I sit on the swings and he sits next to me
"Kaden you don't mean that" he says
"Kinda do, he made my life hell. The annoying thing is it's the girlfriend part that's annoying me. Has she got kids, is he trying to replace us and if so why do I care. Its pissing me off" I say getting irritated
"You have every right to be pissed off. What he did to you was very unfair and should never happened, he doesn't get the right to all of a sudden talk to you or your mum and sister. Don't think about it and don't let it get to you. He's out of your life now" he says
"I know but why does he want to talk to us. You know what I don't care I'm not going to talk about it anymore" I say cutting myself off
"Good" Payton says.
I start thinking about him and everything that's happened. I see Payton get up out of the corner of my eye, he stands in front of me but I carry on staring at the ground.
"Come here" he says opening his arms and I look up at him
"No, I don't like being vulnerable" I say shaking my head
"I don't care" he says pulling me up and into a hug, I immediately hug back "Pluss we are way past vulnerable" he says and I let out a little laugh.
We stay at the park a little longer before going back to the dorms. Everyone is at my dorm like always, we join them in the living room.
"Where were you two" Maddie asks
"I had to run some errands and Payton wanted to come with me" I say
"Sure" Jordan says sarcastically
"Shut up before I slap you" I say giving him a glare
"Make me" he says cockily and I sick up my middle finger at him.
(Time skip - Friday)
I look at the clock impatiently waiting for the bell to go. The bell finally goes and I see Pay to waiting for me outside my class.
"Whatcha doin" I ask as we walk away
"Waiting for you" he says
"Well no shit" I say in a duh tone "but why" I ask
"Because I going to wait for you outside counselling" he says
"Why" I ask again
"Because I can and I want to" he says "I'm already packed and ready to go" he says
"Ok, I'll see you in two hours" I say before walking into Samantha's office.
I sit on the sofa and she apologises for having to delay our session, she does the normal things like ask how my day was and stuff.
"You excited for break" she asks
"I guess, I'm scared that he will show up or something. What will happen if he does" I say
"He won't and everything will be fine. Just don't think about it and focus on something else" she suggests
"Like what the fact that my friends are going to be getting drunk and high and I can't because I'm trying to get out of this school" I say getting annoyed
"Your not trying to get out of this school, I know that if you were you would have give up by now and wouldn't be coming to these anymore. You want to stay" she says
"What no I don't" I lie
"Yes you do, you want to stay here for some reason that we can't figure out. What is it" she asks
'Payton' I thought to myself "I want to get better, I don't want to throw my life away like he did" I say
"Exactly, and you have nothing to worry about. You will be fine Kaden" she says and a timer goes off "Looks like times up. I'll see you after break, have a nice holiday" she says giving me a smile
"You too" I say picking up my back and waking out
"How did it go" Payton asks getting up and walking next to me
"Absolutely fucking amazing" I say
"Oh the sarcasm" he teases "What happed" he asks
"Talked about my dad again, I gotta stop doing that man" I say and he nods his head
We talk until we get to my dorm, he goes to his and gets his stuff. I finish packing the last of my things, by the time I'm done he's back. I go into the living room and say goodbye.
"Have a good holiday everyone" I say to them
"I swear to go if your not together by the time you guys get back" she trails off
"Get ready for disappointment" I say as I walk out of the door.
We go to my car and I put our things in the boot. We get in and I give him the aux we have similar music tastes, mines just more varied. We sing and talk the whole drive. He tells me the way to his house and I pull up in his drive way. I get his things from the boot and give them to him.
"Thank you for this" he says
"It was no problem" I say " I'll see you soon though" I say and he nods his head
"Yeah, I'll see you later" he says pulling me into a hug "Text me when you get home" he says as I get into my car
"I was planning on it don't worry" I say pulling out of his drive way.
I drive to my house and park my car on the street. I get my bags and go into the house. I go to my room and put my stuff in their. I go down and see my mum in the garden so I go out their to see her.
"I'm home by the way" I say taking a seat
"I gathered" she laughs "How are you, how's school" she asks
"I'm good, three months sober on Monday. I'm finally getting better at maths" I say "how are you and Ava" I ask
"We're good, its weird with out you here." she says
"I would have thought so" I say "I kinda like it their, its not as bad as I thought"
"So you want to stay" she asks
"Yeah I guess" I say we talk some more before I go in.
I go to the living room and talk to Ava. We watch tv together before I go to my room. I text Payton saying I made it home safely. I text the group chat saying I'm home and will meet the at some point tomorrow. After I get settled I chill in my room.
