Chapter 06: A Growing Family

Thursday 15 April Year 1993

Yu Ri hated the fact her mother remarried so soon after her father left. She also hated that her mother was bringing her a younger sister. Yu Ri honestly hated everything that was happening in her life, and when her stepfather brought her into the room to see her baby sister, she was very angry, and ready to disown the ugly thing.

But when Yu Ri saw her tiny sister, she instantly asked, "Wow... so this is my new precious bean?"

From the day her sister Ahn Jong was born, to present, she has doted on her, and made her feel more than loved. Yu Ri loved her sister more than anything, and what was once hate and jealousy turned into unconditional love... something she never thought she could feel for another person again.

Friday 8 December Year 1995

By this time, Ahn Jong's father had killed himself nearly seven months ago, and it was just Yu Ri, Ahn Jong and their very pregnant mother. Ahn Jong had not been the same since, but the two girls were excited for their baby sister to arrive. They waited all day, and had determined she was the best Christmas present someone could ask for. When the two sisters finally met Deokman, they could not be happier. They promised to take care of their baby sister... no matter what.

Thursday 8 December Year 2016

Deokman was tired of everything. So instead of continuing to try, she decided it was time to sleep.

Sunday 18 December Year 2016

Yu Ri and Ahn Jong found Doekman ten days after her twenty-first birthday.

They had known she had been struggling for a long time with her mental health... they just had not realized that it was this bad. Ahn Jong did not know how to deal with the loss of her sister... who also felt the only option was suicide, just like their father. She began to spiral, especially when their mother did not seem to care that her youngest was gone. And though Yu Ri was grieving for the loss of her sister, she had to put her feelings aside, because Ahn Jong needed her, and she was not going to lose another sister.

Tuesday 3 January Year 2017

Ahn Jong had finally finished moving in with Yu Ri. The two sisters had decided that this was the best way to make sure they supported each other during this terrible time in their lives. Ahn Jong was about to start working at EWE when she postponed her start date to mourn her sister, and help plan the funeral. Yu Ri had taken a leave of absence as well. The two sisters had become inseparable after they lost Deokman, as if their time together now would somehow make up for their lack of attention to their baby sister. They were going to be there for each other, and support each other no matter what.

So when Ahn Jong said instead of working for the translation department, and that she wanted to work as a voice trainer, Yu Ri pulled strings to get her job voice training with MFT. While on the inside Yu Ri worried this was a mistake, she was extremely supportive on the outside, making sure Ahn Jong felt validated... Something they must have forgotten to do with Deokman.

This was how they spent their time together. Validating each other on the outside, but worrying about the others' choices on the inside... never really talking about their problems....

That was... until the night of the incident.
