2009.03.01 ~ Marvel Kreshnik
When she woke up, she was on the train to school. She stared out at the ocean and watched the snow fall gently like a snow globe. She could not remember the dream she just had, but she knew it was not a good one. She was sitting at the far end of the train next to her new friend whose name she had quite forgotten. He was sleeping peacefully while listening to music, his headphones playing loud enough she could hear the trot singer coming from them. She looked down the train car, and that was when she saw him.
He was sitting in the exact opposite seat as Marvel's. He wore a black beanie that had three "zzz" on it. The unique beanie pressed his long shaggy black bangs down right above his eyes. He had two piercings on his ear. She could not be sure, but it looked like he had a mole on his nose, cheek and two on his jawline. His neck was long and skinny, and peeped out perfectly of the black oversized hoodie, with a large dark wash ripped jean jacket he was wearing. He had black ripped skinny jeans that tucked into his high top knock-off Air Jordan's. The boy was writing in a journal, unbothered by the world. His profile was so handsome as he rapidly wrote in his journal, looking serious, yet relaxed as we worked.
A boy next to him was laughing loudly and messing around with two other boys. They were loud and having a great time, and the boy who caught Marvel's eye sat as still as a statue, continuing to work in his journal. The laughing boy bumped into the statue boy, and that was when he finally looked up from his journal. He took out his headphones and smiled and the sunshine boy. The statue boy said something to the laughing boy who sat back down and continued laughing while talking to the statue. And that was when the statue boy looked to his right, and made eye contact with Marvel. They stared deeply into each other's eyes, and it felt as if time had stopped.
Everyone in the train car disappeared and the world went white around them. It was just them. They sat there, staring at each other, and tears came to Marvel's eyes. She did not know why tears were coming as they stared at each other, but she wiped her tears away and smiled at him.
He returned her smile, and then they both looked away from each other at the exact same time. Marvel felt at peace, and she started watching the snowfall as the train car continued on. She wanted to look back to the boy, but something in her told her that she needed to let him go.

But...
She looked back down the train at the boy again, and they made eye contact again. They both blushed, looked away, then looked back at each other. Marvel stood up and walked down to his seat. The boys surrounding the statue boy stopped talking, and stared at her with shock. The statue boy looked up at her with confusion, unsure what she was doing. Marvel was not really sure what she was doing either, but she stuck out her hand and smiled at the boy.
"Hello... my name is Marvel Kreshnik, I am a transfer student... would you like to be my friend?" she asked him.
The boy shook her hand in return and said in a deep raspy voice, "My name is Min Yun Gu, and I would like that."
The electricity that once haunted them returned, but it had become peaceful. Neither one wanted to let go of the other's hand, but eventually they did when Marvel heard her name being called from the other side of the car.
"Mar noona!" called the boy who was sleeping next to her. He waved at her, and that was when she recoiled her hand. She waved the boy over and remembered his name in that moment.
"Jung Suk, come meet my new friends!" she called to him. They received dirty looks from other people in the train cart for being too loud, but the group of new friends did not care. The boy walked over to Marvel, and they started introducing themselves to each other, forming a new friend group.
Everything felt right and good. They were all reunited, without any worries from their past. It was a fresh start, a second beginning for the friends. No memories, no regrets, no heartaches.
They were given a chance that many wished was possible.
A restart.
So while this may seem like the end to their story. It really is just their second beginning.
