"Wait Zoe. Are you talking to Alfie?"
She looks doen at her lap: "A bit."
I can't believe it. I can't believe my best friend is talking to the guy that tried to ruin my life again: "He tried to manipulate mine and Dan's relationship. And why are him and Alfie talking again?"
Zoe sighs: "I actually wanted to tell you everything today. Basically him and Joe started talking when he tried to sell our old Apartment because I didn't want to talk to him after the breakup and Joe just said he'll suck ut up and handle it for me. They made up apparently and he's been telling me that Alfie really is trying to change for the better. "
" And you believe that? From Joe? "
She sighs again: "I didn't at first but he really is sorry. And he feels dumb for trying to get with you."
"Babes, you're too gullible sometimes. And nice. Of course I'm happy for you if you guys are on good terms but it's just... weird."
"I get that. Totally. And I'm just trying to be civil with him. But don't worry I'll talk to Joe about what happened tonight. I won't excuse that just because he is my brother."
I fall back on the couch and put my hands on my head: "This is all so crazy. Why wouldn't Dan just tell me about what really happened?"
Zoe falls down next to me: "No idea."
Sitting right back up, I grab my phone and text Dan.

Just a minute later he responds.

Danny: In the evening. You ok? Wanna cook something together tonight?

I show Zoe the text: "Great. Looks like I'll have to wait."
She smiles at me with a bit of pity in her look: "Let's go out and stroll around, what do you think? Just to get your mind off of everything."

And 30 minutes later we are parked and ready to wander around the streets of London. We go into all types of shops and do some much needed retail therapy.
Not too long after my empty hands are filled with bags from Boots, Homesense and some snacks I am craving. Zoe on the other hand had her hands filled with bags from different clothing stores.
"I'm surprised that wasn't 200 pounds.", she laughs and lifts the bags while taking a boomerang of us holding everything.
"Me too.", I giggle, "I'd love to get some new cozy clothes but I know I won't fit in them in a couple of weeks."
"Wait.", she stops, "I know about this super cute maternity store from back when Louise was pregnant."
"Oh... I don't know about that."
"Awe, come on. Let's have a little look at least.", she responds and smiles.

Surprisingly, we spend a lot more time than expected in the boutique. Not only do they have super cosy and sustainable clothing for pregnant people of all sizes, they make the sweetest clothing for kids as well. I can't help myself and get some bits for the baby and I.

As the store is about to close, I go to the register to pay for everything while Zoe goes ahead to get the car because it started to rain and since she is the amazing person she is, she doesn't want me to catch a cold.

Right when she walks out of the door, a big flash of light illuminates the room from outside.
