With Klaus and Caroline

Klaus and Caroline got ready before they left arm in arm. They walked the streets of New Orleans on the way to the venue for their dinner. They talked lightly and just enjoyed each other's company, knowing they'd be able to talk more over dinner.

Klaus took her to a nice restaurant and pulled out her chair for her. She sat down with a blush as he sat across from her. A waiter came over and offered them different wines and they picked before they were left alone to look at menus and decide on what to eat.

Caroline looked over the menu before deciding and setting it aside. She laced her fingers under her chin and looked at Klaus, "so. In the last fifteen years, what have you been up to? I haven't seen you since you promised you'd never come back." He smirked and chuckled as he leaned forward towards her.

"I kept my word. I stayed in New Orleans, protected my daughter from the evils that tried to harm her. Which there was plenty. My mother came back again and tried, then her sister came to try and take her. I found out I have an older sister. We thought the plague took her, turns out that was not the case."

Caroline raised her eyebrows, "sounds like a lot has happened in the last years. Everyone is doing okay though?" He nodded, taking a sip of his wine, "we found a way to bring Kol back, he's married to a witch named Davina. They are lovely together. My older sister has found a woman that makes her very happy and they have a son together." Caroline smiled at that, she was happy that his family was doing well and enjoying their lives.

"I'm really happy everyone is doing well. Has Kol calmed down or is he still slightly a psychopath?" He laughed and set down his glass, "he is still crazy. But Davina calms him some so it isn't as terrible." That made Caroline smile.

They ordered when the waiter came back by to take their order. Klaus set his hand on the table and she slowly placed her hand on his. He smiled to himself before he worked up the courage to ask her questions, "what happened when you found out you were pregnant?" She rubbed his hand and bit her lip.

"I stayed in town for a while, but I left and went to Paris, she was actually born there. I thought it would be safer if she was as far away from Mystic Falls as I could get her. But things also didn't go to plan for us, she was cursed and injured while in the womb." She gave a sad sigh knowing she couldn't keep her baby safe like she wanted to.

He squeezed her hand, "you did your best. From what I've seen of our daughter, she is as strong as her mother. Will she stop aging at 18 like Hope will?" Caroline raised a brow, "you were told that?" He nodded, "Hope's vampire side will stop her from aging once she is 18." She nodded, "Aliyah should be the same then shouldn't she? I haven't heard anything about her aging."

"I can have someone look into it for Aliyah. But we should have eternity with her without fear." Caroline smiled at that, she wouldn't have to watch her daughter grow old while she didn't age. "I hope we won't have to watch her grow old. I couldn't imagine that." He nodded and kissed the back of her hand.

When their dinner came they ate and chatted more about little things, getting to know each other better. It made her wish she had gotten go know him when he had actively been pursuing her. Maybe they would have been raising Aliyah together? She bit the inside of her cheek trying to stop those thoughts. She couldn't go back and change what had happened.

"You alright, love?" She nodded as she looked at him, "I was just getting lost in thought." He smiled, sipping his wine, "what were you thinking about?" She blushed again and sipped her own wine, "what would have happened if I was nicer to you and gave you a chance all those years ago." His eyes widened some as shock spread across his face.

"I was so young back then. You terrified me. But, now that I'm older, I can't stop thinking about you. During some of the chaos years ago, Tyler died. I was in Paris with Aliyah, I cried, but I didn't feel like my world was ending. I don't believe he was ever my- my epic love." He took her hand and squeezed it, he never thought he'd be hearing her say any of these things.

"I don't think my epic love has happened yet, or has had the chance to show me what he's got." She smirked and looked at him. She scooted to the chair next to him and leaned close to him, she let their foreheads touch and she closed her eyes, enjoying the moment.

Klaus's undead heart beat fast in his chest when she got close, he looked over her face before he leaned close and let their lips touch. She cupped the back of his head, gently carding her fingers through his hair as she started to kiss him back.

After a few moments they pulled apart and she smiled softly, "ready to make due on your promise and show me New Orleans? I kept that voicemail you sent me." He smiled, "you kept that?" She nodded and got up after he set money on the table. He took her hand and led her out of the restaurant.

He took her through the streets and pointed at landmarks or things his family had founded. They stopped to watch a few street artists and he held her close as he explained the deeper meaning of art to her. She leaned into his embrace and laid her head on his shoulder.

They got drinks as they walked around and Caroline laughed as they talked about past times, "you know, if you were able to have Aliyah, what are the chances we'd be able to have another?" She raised a brow and looked at him, "another? You'd want to start all over? Both our daughters are almost fully grown."

"I never got to be there fully for either of them. I will spend eternity making up for that. But we are immortal, we could have hundreds of children through the centuries." She bit her lip, "and what if Aliyah is a once in a trillion chance?" He smiled, "then I get to spend eternity spoiling her and Hope, spending time they missed with me."

Caroline grinned and they started to walk back towards the compound, "I think we'd have to see how we do first before deciding if we want to try seeing if I can get pregnant again." He chuckled and finished his drink, "I think we'll do very well. I intend to make sure you have that epic love."
