Reaching out

Izuku was born quirkless, and his mother was sorry for him. There was something "wrong" with his DNA, apparently. The doctors couldn't tell what, though.

He had almost given up on his dream of becoming a hero, until the fatal encounter with All Might.

We all know how things evolved for the better after that. All was going to get better with time, he even started to avoid bone fractures and other injuries as his training proceeded.

All Might has noticed, and admired, how Izuku's progress is being really fast.

Beyond any expectation, actually.

He himself was able to handle the physical power right away, but he never had the dreams with the predecessors, or even knew about the possibility of using their quirks.

Sometimes he wonders...

Was young Midoriya really quirkless to begin with?

Or was it that they diagnosed it wrong and his quirk is so unique not even the doctors figured it out?

And then there was the tragic death of Sir Night Eye.

Who said on his deathbed that he had seen himself AND young Midoriya dying by the hand of Overhaul, thanks to his foresight quirk.

But young Midoriya was able to clearly change that fate, at least for himself. How...?

There was something amiss. But what was it?

Meanwhile, the game battle between Class 1A and 1B was over and Shinso was placed in class 1A, much to the amusement and enthusiasm of the entire class, which has already grown fond of the purple haired "mini-Aizawa", how they sometimes called him.

On that one fateful day after Izuku's dream, when they are training in the forestry ground of UA, Shinso for once managed to use his Quirk on Midoriya, staying a few meters away out of caution.

Yup.

He remembers the Sports Festival and the game battle quite well.

Safety distance is a MUST when going against the greenette: no matter how much friends they've become, he will still kick Shinso's ass if Shinso is not careful.

In the first seconds nothing seems wrong, but then, Shinso, who was preparing his capture gear to immobilize Midoriya in order to win the sparring, freezes in place, as a strange green mist starts to surround them, and a sort of swirling green portal opens near Izuku.

'SHIT.'

Shinso is scared out of his mind when suddenly a huge panther jumps right out of the portal and he calls for help through the communicator, while running toward Izuku, who apparently is still under his quirk's influence.

'No, that can't be, I've removed it', he panics, yelling "Midoriya! Snap out of it!". He's on the verge of tears, he doesn't understand...

He didn't want to put his friend in danger!

He abruptly collapses on his own knees when the panther roars at him, suddenly unable to move further.

'What's happening?!? Why can't I move?!?'

He's terrorised, and frustrated.

'I should be able to fight it, even if my quirk isn't a physical one!', he thinks, scolding himself mentally, teeth clenching violently.

But Midoriya stays unfazed, absent, eyes faintly glowing green and, as the rest of the class, Aizawa included, arrives on the spot in a matter of mere seconds, they can't believe their own eyes when the huge panther nuzzles her head against his shoulder and Izuku, in the same absent state as before, smiles eerily and bows down towards her, almost as if he's greeting her.
