Restoring balance and hope

Later, during the training, Todoroki is really having problems concentrating.

With the help of Midoriya, and Mistarin watching over them, he's trying to keep his two Quirks activated at the same time and potency, a very low level of that for now.

Fire burns flickering on his left palm while ice forms and shifts on his right.

The two hands are in front of him, merely centimeters between them.

Yeah, his fire control has gotten much better since the Sport Festival.

But to keep both Quirks up contemporarily for this long... It's already been 30 minutes. The usual battle or sparring lasts way less.

Midoriya's eyes glow slightly, as he performs some strange movements with his arms in front of him. He mutters incomprehensible words which Todoroki can only assume are a spell.

Suddenly, however, keeping the two Quirks activated feels easier. He feels his body compensating both Quirks much better, even if he's tired.

Midoriya smiles. "Try and increase the potency a little bit, now. But do it on both sides as you're doing now, ok Todoroki?"

"Ah, yes... I can try..." He answers, a little out of breath.

He never did such an exhausting training with his excuse of a father. This level of concentration is quite a challenge. He had got just used to alternate the use of his Quirks.

He succeeds, for about 10 minutes, to increase the potency, his fire rising higher towards the ceiling, as well as the ice. But he has to give up after that, hands on his knees and sweat clenching his PE uniform to his body.

"You still have a long way to go, elemental user. But we will continue on another day." Mistarin states, impartial and unintelligible as always.

'I wish I could have met her before... she never yells, never loses her calmness... my father should learn from her.The training was draining and still, I have never felt better.'

Midoriya can't take another issue off his mind. He feels a little tired, but he has to learn it, now.

"Mistarin Sensei. The restoration spell..."

"I know. You already learned the word; you will train it on those dried flowers for today.

You need to know what a living being looks like to restore it to full health. Try and bring them all back to a green state, for now.

Concentrate, Idekus, otherwise it won't work. You will have to, if we want to pass to the next level of this training."

"Hai!"

As he concentrates on the flowers, sitting cross legged on the ground, he tries to imagine them as they were still fresh. He visualizes their vibrant colors, their aroma, their soft petals, and the velvet-like sensation you can get by delicately touching them.

Todoroki observes fascinated, as the eyes of his friend once again glows, together with his whole body, his hand hovering over the flowers, as he whispers a single word, "Restituo", and the green and golden glow grows suddenly from two of them. It lasts but a few seconds.

They are once again fresh. Not only that, their roots are back, they could plant them again.

Midoriya however frowns.

"Just two..." , he mumbles. This won't be enough. He sighs in frustration.

Katsuki feels it, while he is still doing his own training and makes his way to his boyfriend.
