‘What the hell?’ Was Laten’s first thought. “W-What’s g-going on?” Oh great. Why the hell did he have to stutter?

“Well, we’ve noticed a few things, and we just want to make sure everything’s ok.” Amanda smiled.

‘Oh. So this is who Ryan was talking about.’ So, do I have to talk to you right now?”

Amanda nodded. “Just to get acquainted. We don’t have to start talking if you don’t want to.”

For some reason, Laten hated how psychiatrists did this. The whole ‘if you don’t want to, we don’t have to’ bull crap. They are there because that is what they are there for. To talk about the things that you don’t want to talk about. So, why would they even say that? It’s just like lying to you.

Laten just nodded.

“So, let’s go into a quiet room, shall we?” She went into Laten’s councilor’s office, with of course, Laten following her.

Once they were in the room, Amanda shut the door, and sat down in one of the seats facing Laten.

Laten, although hesitantly, sat down opposite.

“So, Laten. Tell me about yourself.”

Laten rolled his eyes. “You tell me. You probably know all about me. They probably told you all about me.”

Amanda laughed. “You are quiet something. Well, how about this. I tell you a fact about me, then you tell a fact about yourself?”

Laten narrowed his eyes. “Fine.”

Amanda smiled. “Alright. So, I’m married. Your turn.”

Laten thought about what he should say in return. He didn’t want to say he cuts. Not just yet. In fact, he wasn’t going to say anything about it, until she said something about it. Just to see how much she knows. “Alright. My best friend just recently became my boyfriend.”

Amanda looked shocked. “Oh Wow. Congrats! Well, let’s see, my birthday is April twenty-third.”

Latten nodded. ‘Okay, this-this is alright. Let’s see where this will go. NO! Laten, this is what she wants. Don’t give her what she wants.’ “My mother died in The World Trade Center two years ago when the plane crashed into the South Tower”

“Oh wow. I’m sorry to hear that.” Amanda responded.

Laten rolled his eyes. “How can you be sorry if you had nothing to do with it?”

Amanda shrugged. “It’s sympathy. Not everyone is cold you know.” Amanda smiled.

Laten shrugged. “Your turn.”

“Hmm….let’s see….Oh! I’m afraid of planes.”

This shocked Laten, but he never showed his shock. “Understandable. I hate planes too.”

“That’s understandable when you’ve experienced something like that. Hey, we have something in common.”  Amanda smiled.

Laten sighed. “Just to let you know, I’m not your friend.”

Amanda laughed. “I wouldn’t expect anything  less.”

“I normally don’t like therapists.” Laten said.

“What do you have against them?”

Laten shrugged. “For example, I know what your trying to do. Your trying to get me to think that you actually care for me, when really, your just doing your job. Which means, your doing this to earn you some money. Which means, your just doing this for the money.”

Amanda nodded. “I see where your going. Tell me, what exactly am I doing?”

Laten narrowed his eyes. “It’s called trust. Your trying to gain my trust, so you can use it, later on.”

“And what am I going to do with your trust?”

“How the hell should I know? Now, your just trying to get inside my mind!”

Amanda laid back in the chair. “Is that a bad thing?”

“Yes! Because I don’t want a damn stranger to find out about me! It’s none of their business, and it’s none of yours!”

Amanda nodded. “So, what I’m asking, is, what would be the worst thing that can happen if someone finds out about you?”

Laten shrugged. “Not the end of the world or anything, just that, I hate the idea of a stranger finding out things about me. I’m not going to pour my heart out to someone who I barley know.”

The bell rang, and Laten grabbed his bag and walked out the door. He was on his way out of the building, when he found Tankie walking with him.

“Everything alright?” He asked.

Laten shook his head. “A school psychiatrist. They gave me the school’s psychiatrist.”

Tankie sighed. “I’m sorry. Does she know?”

“Probably. She probably knows everything about me. If she knows, why is she asking stupid-ass questions?”

They walked out the door.

“To make conversation. What did she say?”

Laten shrugged. “Just---we told one fact about each other taking turns, and then we talked about how I hate people like her.”

Tankie hummed. “Did you tell her that you’re getting help?”

Laten shook his head. “The cutting never came up. I thought it’d be better if she said something about it first.”

“Was she nice?”

Laten nodded. “Too nice. She wasn’t proper though, She was really laid back. I don’t want her inside of my head!”

Laten went into a building, and to a door.

“I know, Laten. You gotta understand, she’s just trying to help.”

“I don’t care. She’s trying to help for the money.” Laten opened his bag, and got out a ruler. He got the door open with ease. He went inside, with Tankie following him, and he shut the door, and locked it back up. Laten rested his head on the door. “I’m so tired of everything.”

Tankie smiled. “I know you are, but the important thing is, is that your not giving up.”

Laten smiled. “I’m never giving up.” Laten opened his eyes. “You can put your life on that.”

Tankie smiled, as he walked to where he was facing Laten. “Good. Don’t let the hatters win.”

Laten looked at him. “Since when do I let them win?” Laten chuckled. Tankie laughed with him.

They both leaned in and kissed. Soon, it was a series of kisses, and Laten was kissing back. Laten put his arms around Tankie’s neck. ‘Am I in love?’ Laten thought.

Tankie put his arms around his waist. Tankie’s tongue traced Laten’s lips.

Laten gladly opened parted his mouth, as Tankie’s tongue slid in his mouth.

Laten melted with the kiss.

Soon they had to pull away. Tankie hugged Laten, and Laten hugged back.

“What are your feelings toward me?” Tankie asked, curious for the answer.

Laten smiled. “I think I’m falling in love. If we even know what love is.”

Tankie smiled. “We’ll know soon. For know, let’s just say we’re in love.”

Laten smiled back. “Alright.” They pulled away, and headed for the bus on the way home.

Laten smiled on the way.
