“Wanna go to the pool now?” Laten asked.
Tankie looked at the time. “It’s only about seven. We haven’t even had diner yet.” Tankie laughed.
Laten smiled. “Wanna stay for diner? I’m sure Dad won’t mind.”
Tankie sighed. “I would love to, but I gotta help out Mom in the kitchen.”
“Speaking of your mother, do you wanna talk about what happened?”
Tankie shrugged. “I’m sure there’s nothing to it. I’m sure she’ll come around. She’s just overprotective. That’s all.”
Laten sighed. “Tankie.”
“I know she’s not the person to judge. She just needs to come around.” Tankie said, but he wasn’t looking Laten in the eye.
“And what if she doesn’t?”
Tankie shrugged. “I’ll just go and talk her, and ask her what’s the mater.”
Laten turned to him. “Are you afraid that she’s not going to accept you?”
Tankie nodded. “But I mean-she’s really nice, and I don’t see the reason as to why she doesn’t accept me.”
“Have you told her that your bi?”
Tankie shook his head. “No. She doesn’t know about any of that. I’ll have to tell her when the time is right.” There was pure sadness in Tankie’s voice. It was plain that he was more then just ‘worried’. Probably terrified.
Laten felt hopeless. How do you confront a bi kid telling their parents that he’s with a person that is the same sex as him? He did the only thing he could think of. He hugged Tankie. He could feel Tankie burry his head in his neck, as he hugged back. “Well, whatever happens, just know that I’ll be here for you. Always. Your always there for me. So, now it’s my turn to be there for you.” Laten told him.
He felt Tankie’s head as he nodded, not trusting his voice. Then Tankie let out a breath, and began silently sobbing.
Laten’s heart went out to him. He kept his hold on Tankie, as he slowly comforted him. “It’ll be okay. You have me at least…”
Tankie nodded. “I k-know. T-Thanks.” They pulled away. “Well…I got to go now. I’ll be here tonight so we can go to the pool.” Tankie smiled.
Laten kissed him one more time, before Tankie got up. “I’ll see ya.” Laten nodded, and Tankie left the room.
‘Wow…at least your father accepts you, Laten. Your not the one that’s going through things. There are some things you can be grateful for, you know.’ Laten thought as Tankie left. Man, he really needed his blade right now. Maybe if he could try and find it….’No, Laten! You can’t.’
Stopping was harder then it looked. Cutting was one of the ways that Laten would deal with things. It always worked too. Laten scratched at him arms. He refused to look. If he looked at his arms, he would have noticed that to him, they would look smooth, considering he hasn’t cut in a while. To add to that, it would make Laten want to cut even more. He sighed. Does everyone that cuts, and they try to stop, go through these strong as hell urges? He has to stay strong. These urges were almost as strong as he was.
He went to the house phone, and looked through the Caller Log to try and find Ryan’s number. When he found it, he pressed the ‘CALL’ button.
Ryan was at his house, grading, when his house phone rang. The caller I.D said it was Chuck’s home. He answered it. “Hello, Chuck!”
