MILLIE'S HEARD THE rumours. The rumours that there's more than one thing mad about Mad-Eye Moody. The rumours that he's attacked students. That he can see everything. That he can hear everything. But also, that he's an amazing teacher. The rumours that he's done it all and he knows what it's all like. What it's like to be out there. The rumours that there's never been lessons like his. That his class is amazing.

Now, Millie's sitting next to a Slytherin girl at the back of the class, her usual spot, waiting impatiently for her first Defense Against the Dark Arts class of fourth year. The sun is shining through the windows making Millie unusually optimistic for the class to be amazing. She doesn't tend to trust the naïve students of Hogwarts but today she's feeling like she can for some unknown reason. She's already pulled out her copy of The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection and the room is silent as everyone eagerly anticipates the start of class.

Finally, after what feels like hours, the class can hear Moody's loud stomps coming from down the corridor. The door slams behind him making everyone jump at the noise along with the terrifying look on the professor's face. He limps with his peg leg over to the front of the classroom as he mumbles something that Millie can't quite make out from the back row. She sees everyone put away their books and so she does so too, pretending she knows what's going on. Maybe it'll be like Lupin's first lesson last year, Millie didn't particularly like that lesson. Her biggest fear is her in her 'scary Veela' state, it's not really something she looks at and thinks oh no! It's so scary, but it hurts. It's not a fun state to be in for her or the people around her.

Moody pulls out the register and begins reading the names, his magic eye looking like it's about to explode with the amount it's moving. When he gets to Amelia's name he stops, his face contorts into some sort of confused and angry look that makes Millie want to get the heck out of there.

"Amelia Milev," he frowns, glaring at the curly-haired girl. He says her name like it's going to kill him, like it's the rudest word in the entire world and he is being forced to say it.
