Sofie P.O.V

Oh, how wrong I was...

It's been two months since I found out I'm pregnant, and I can no longer see my feet.

I get up from the couch to go to the kitchen, but Ace comes downstairs at that moment. "Where are you going?" he asks. I smile innocently.

"To the kitchen?" He raises an eyebrow. You see, he's been trying to make we do as little work as possible, which can get really annoying.

I feel a kick and my face lights up. I place my hand on the spot and Ace jogs up to me, also placing his hands on my bump. He always does this when I feel a kick.

Ace smiles when he feels another one and I make my way to the kitchen. I'm really craving ice-cream right now, so I open the freezer, only to find it ice-cream-less.

I look behind everything to make sure and come out empty-handed. I really wanted ice-cream and now there isn't any. So, I do the only logical thing I can think of. I cry.

Ace P.O.V

I'm talking to Daniel in the living room, when I hear Sofie crying in the kitchen. Immediately, Dan and I rush to where she is, only to see her holding a spoon and crying while glaring at the freezer.

I rush over to her and pull her to my chest. She continues to cy and hold the spoon in a death grip. Dan sends me a confused look which I mirror.

"Kitten, are you alright?" I ask carefully.

"What does it look like?" She snaps. "All I wanted was some ice-cream, but now we don't have any! Se non prendo un gelato nei prossimi dieci minuti, vi colpirò tutti con i miei tacchi a spillo!" She warns. (If I don't get some ice-cream in the next ten minutes, I will hit you all with my stilettos.) I look at Dan, who has already gotten his wallet and keys, and is running out of the house.

I lead Sofie to one of the stools by the breakfast bar and walk to the fridge. Pulling out the jar of pickles, I walk back to my wife, who grabs it eagerly. Her tears are already forgotten and they're now replaced with her angelic smile.

She's going to be the death of me.

"What? No thank you?" I ask. She pulls me down and kisses me passionately, before ditching me for her pickles. I smile as I watch her eat the pickles like her life depends on it.

"I'm back!" Dan gasps for air, as her drops seven tubs of ice-cream on the breakfast bar.

"Yay!" Sofie squeals, hugging Dan. "You're definitely my favourite." She says, opening a tub of cookies-and-cream.

"Hey! I thought I was your favourite!" Brad whines, walking into the kitchen. Sofie shrugs.

"Have you seen this? If he isn't my favourite after this, then nobody is." She says simply. "Well, except Ace." She says as an afterthought and I smile as if I've won a victory. Yup. I'm her favourite. Take that, losers.

"Aren't you supposed to be in class?" I ask, gently massaging Sofie's shoulders.

"It got cancelled. I figured I'd come here and see how my niece and nephew are doing." He says, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.

"I'm going to Candyfloss." Sofie announces, standing up. I raise my eyebrows, staring at her baby bump.

"Relax, I'm not going to dance. I'm just going to check on how Trevor is running the place." She stands up.

"He's running it fine. Or, he better be, considering I'm giving him paid leave." I grumble, following her.

When we get to the building, I see my wife's eyes light up just like they always do when she sees it.

"Trevor!" She shouts excitedly.

"Mango!" He says, giving her a hug. He nods respectively to me and I return the gesture.

"Okay, I want to see how the new teacher is doing." She says with an excited smile.

"Okay, she's in studio two. She's older than the rest, probably in her forties, but she's a good teacher and the kids love her." Sofie seems intrigued and when we see the lady, Sofie gasps.

Sofie P.O.V

"Ms Helen?" I squeal. She looks confused as to who I am, and I don't blame her, considering I was only five when I last saw her.

"Um, yes?" She asks.

"Kitten, you know her?" I nod my head happily.

"Sofia Adornetto! I'm a huge fan!" She says happily, making me shake my head.

"Well of course, you couldn't recognise me now that I've grown up." I say, walking over to her.

"It's me, Sofie. Um, you used to help my sister and I like twenty years ago..." She gasps in realisation and pulls me into a hug.

"Oh my, look how you've grown!" She gushes. "How is Emmalin? How did you escape? Did you escape? If not then you can stay with me..." My eyes watered at her concern.

"Emmy is fine, married with two kids. My poor excuse of a mother died in an accident, and we found out we have five brothers who were looking for us the entire time, so we moved in with them. I'm married now and will be having twins in about two months." I say with a smile.

"Oh, that's wonderful! You said your mother passed away, so what about him?" I look down.

"Well, he's gone now." Is all I say.

The truth is, he's still in Antonio's basement being tortured by whoever wants too. He's also being injected with adrenaline every day, but just enough so that he doesn't die. Before the torturing began, Emmy and I confronted him. just to rub it in his face and get some closure. Apparently, he never loved mom and just used her for drug connections.

After speaking with Helen for a bit, I begin to feel tired which Ace immediately notices and brings me back home.

Now, I'm sitting on Ace's lap and leaning against his chest while rubs my bump and watches some action movie.

"So, how did you know the new teacher." He asks when the credits start rolling.

"Well, she lived in the house next to ours when we were smaller and knew about our situation. She was in her late twenties and was studying medicine. I guess you could say she was there for us when we needed her. we met when Emmy was trying to get some fruit for us from her tree. Helen saw this and instead of scolding her, she got a ladder and a basket to put them in. She offered countless times to take us away, but Carter had a threat that I would be hurt if they ever tried to get away." I sigh just thinking about it.

"Helen was the one who tended to all of Emmy's wounds and got her the morning-after pill that one time. Eventually she had to move away, but she left us money that lasted us food for months. The new owner to her house was rude and cut down the fruit tree to have a gazebo." I pout at the memory of the man with the beer belly.

"So, Helen helped you two when you were being abused?" I nod my head. "I need to send her a car." He mumbles. Anyone would think this is a joke, but knowing my Ace, he was already thinking which colour to choose.

"You know I love you, right? Even if you annoy me and don't stock up the ice-cream." I murmur drowsily. His chest vibrates with a slight chuckle and he kisses my lips.

"I love you more Tesoro. No matter what." (sweetheart) I smile at that before dozing off.
