Last night when Cass came back from the restroom, I thought of the worst thing. Cass could've cut herself again. I ignored that thought but I still worried.

The next morning was okay but the beginning was hard to see happen. Cass and the boys woke up around the same time. "Good morning mom." She said loud enough for anyone inside the house to hear.

We didn't want to tell her that her mom died. I looked at them and they all shrugged. She went upstairs to her mom's room only to see that she wasn't there. "Hey guys where's my mom?" Cass asked. We didn't say anything. It took her a couple of seconds to realize about yesterday. Her eyes widened, she started to breathe faster and began to cry. She crumpled on the floor sobbing her heart out.

We told her it was going to be ok. That she should stay and not go to school. I couldn't bare to see her like this. All of a sudden the phone started ringing. Calum rushed to answer it. The phone call ends.

"Guys it was the police." Calum said pointing to the phone.

"What? Why?" I asked.

"They found the man and he's being held in court today." Calum explained putting the phone back.

"So we should go." Luke says already grabbing the clothes from last night.

"We need your opinion Cass. You decide." Michael says, eyes focused on Cass.

She stopped crying, stood up and nodded. We got dressed, and I drove us to the courtroom. Cass brought tissues, she struggled with the tears and handling them was difficult. We enter the courtroom and everything starts. It was depressing seeing everything happen but at the end the man got arrested and Cass was allowed to live alone.

If she was underage she would've had to go find a family member to take care of her.

We got home and called the school to let them know Cass can't come to school today. We also informed them about how and why we were going to be late.

"Cass, we're going to school so just relax and we'll be back" I said closing the door to her house. I wanted her to calm down and take it slow. A lot happened all at once, seems hard to take it in.

During school I couldn't wait to get back. I had to pick up all the boys before going to her house. They were all probably really worried. "Mr. Irwin! Pay attention!" My history teacher snaps. I guess I was thinking too much about Cass and not about ancient Greek.

After the boys left for school, I had breakfast. I made myself waffles and ate them while looking through my long list. I decided to play music on my speakers. I'm home alone and music always made me feel better. A Green Day song came up and I was singing to every lyric. "Can I get another amen?!" Said the song. "Amen!" I sang to the end of a fork as I washed it.
