Jeongin's Pov:

"Still live on the same street? Maple Avenue, right?" My mom had told me we'd be living on Maple Avenue, so I wanted to see if Y/N still lived on that street. Plus, I needed something to say to turn her attention away from that cheek kiss. I don't know why I even did that. It's just I haven't seen her in so long and she just looked so beau- wait, what am I saying?!

Once that cheery "You bet!" came out of her mouth, I couldn't help but smile. I get to see my best friend again, and she's my neighbor? Awesome!

"Well, I live on that street too, now! So, hello neighbor!" She smiled one of her beautiful bunny smiles. Wow. How come I've never noticed how pretty she is?  Despite that smile, I could tell she was still hurt. I want to tell her everything. How my mom basically fucked up our whole friendship, but now isn't the time. She doesn't need this on her mind while returning home to that drunk of a sperm donor she calls a dad. She needs to be happy for once.

We continued walking home, and I began to walk towards the apartment number my mom told me we would be living at: 523 Maple Avenue. The address seemed kind of familiar, but I didn't think about it much. That is, until Y/N started walking behind me. I was really confused, so I asked, "Uh, whatcha doin Y/N?"

"Going to my house?" I raised one of my eyebrows, and as I opened my mouth to say how it was my house, we heard two voices coming from the inside of the house. Specifically, a male's and...my mom's? No way.

"Wait a minute," I mouthed to Y/N. I grabbed her hand and we walked, actually barged, into the house. Once we walked in, both of our eyes widened. I couldn't believe the sight in front of my eyes. My mother, sitting on a couch, laughing with a guy that was no doubtably Y/N's dad. Huh. He finally cleaned himself up. Once our parents finally noticed us, their mouths gaped open.

"Explain, now," me and Y/N said simultaneously. My mother quickly got up and walked over to both of us.

"Jeongin! Baby!" she said as she cupped my cheeks. I just looked back at her with a confused glare. She turned her attention to Y/N. "Ah, Y/N! How much you've grown!" She gave her a hug which Y/N accepted reluctantly, while also giving me a glare like "wtf is she doing?"

"Mom, what's going on?" I quickly asked as she broke the hug. She placed a hand softly on one of my shoulders and began to explain, while Y/N's dad just stayed in the back, suspiciously smiling. I re-took a hold of Y/N's hand, just for comfort I guess.

"Honey, this is your new home! Aren't you happy? You get to live with Y/N!" She spat that all out a bit too cheerfully. I looked at her in surprise.

"Don't you mean our new home?" She gulped and let out a sigh before smiling slightly.

"No, honey. Your  new home. I'm not staying here with you." That statement hit me like a bullet. I know, my mom seems like a bitch, mainly because she is one, but that doesn't mean I don't love her.

Tears began to well up in my eyes as I sobbed out, "Your...Your leaving me?" She quickly cupped my face and looked at me.

"I'm sorry, sweetie. I want to give you a better life," she briefly paused, "and that can only happen if I'm not there. You see...I'm not even supposed to have custody of you...I took you away from your father when we divorced, and when he passed, I was supposed to hand you over to foster care. But I was selfish and I didn't want to...I'm sorry I.N." I was speechless. I felt like my heart had just broken into a million pieces. Tears began to fall down my face quickly.

"W-Where are you going?" I coughed out between sobs.

"With me." Y/N's dad spoke for the first time. Y/N quickly turned her attention to her dad.

"W-What?" I could hear Y/N's voice cracking. My mom looked at Y/N with a confused look in her eyes.

"You, didn't know? Did you not hear me call your dad this morning?" Y/N shook her head as a small tear fell down her cheek.

She gripped my hand tighter before looking at her dad. "Why?"

"My drinking has, gotten worse, to say the least. I don't want that to affect your life anymore so-" Before thinking twice, Y/N quickly cut her dad off.

"Wait, wait, wait. It took you this long to realize that your drinking has affected my life? It's been affecting my life for 16 FUCKING YEARS! YOUR DRINKING IS WHY MOM ISN'T HERE ANYMORE! YOUR DRINKING IS WHY I HAVE ALL OF THIS!" She rolled up her sleeves and showed a series of scars and bruises. He...did that to her? While I was gone? Dammit Jeongin. Why did you leave her with this monster? With tears streaming down her red, puffy face, she continued.

"AND YOU'RE JUST NOW REALIZING THAT THIS AFFECTED MY LIFE?! ARE YOU KIDDING?! DO YOU REALLY THINK LEAVING WILL CHANGE IT ALL?! LEAVING WON'T TAKE AWAY THE YEARS OF PAIN I'VE ENDURED LIVING HERE! LEAVING ME WON'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT MOM IS DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU! LEAVING WON'T CHANGE ANYTHING! BUT THAT'S JUST WHAT YOU ALWAYS DO, RIGHT? YOU RUN AWAY FROM YOUR PROBLEMS. BECAUSE YOUR A DAMN COWARD!" Tears were flowing down Y/N's face like a waterfall, and her grip on my hand was tighter than ever. Her dad walked up to her and tried to put his hands on her shoulders.

"Honey, listen to me," Y/N quickly shrugged him off aggressively.

"YOU KNOW WHAT? LEAVE! SEE IF I CARE!" And with that, Y/N left to, what I presumed was her room. I followed after her, but before I left, I glared at the both of them.

"Some parents you guys are. Just leave." With that, I went down the hallway to Y/N's old room. When I went in, what I saw nearly broke me. Y/N was laying facing away from the door, and, even though I didn't see her face, I could tell the tears hadn't gone away any. I just sat down beside her and softly rubbed her back. She turned over and fell into my arms.

"Shh, it's okay Baby Bear." All I could do was hug her tightly. I wanted to make her feel safe. After the sixteen years she's had to endure with her monster of a father, I feel like I need to protect her. I should've protected her. I shouldn't have left her with him.

More tears were falling down her cheeks now and she softly said in between sobs, "Why, Innie? Why?" I just held her tighter.

"I wish I knew. But hey. At least we get to live together now. So, hey roomie." I let out a soft smile as she giggled. I missed her laugh so much.

"You just won't let me be sad, will you?" Without thinking, I gave her another soft cheek peck.

    "Never." I said softly.
