Gilbert was speeding down the road with me sitting next to him biting my nails in nervousness.
When we both came back to a car with no Arnie in sight we didn't have a clue where he could have gone.
Well...that was until we saw police cars and a ambulance driving toward the direction of the towns water tower.
Once we reach our destination my stomach drops as I see Arnie climbing up higher and higher on the water tower.
Gilbert parks and we both get out of the car and sprint towards Arnie'a direction.
"Okay, son, it's a little dangerous up there. Come on down"
"Arnie, get down!"
"Come on, son, We've had enough fun for one day"
We heard multiple voices trying to coax Arnie to climb down.
"Come down!"
"No!" Arnie yells back.
"I'm not climbing down, I'm going up there" Arnie says to them.
"Arnie, Arnie come down buddy" Gilbert says to him.
"Look up here, Hi!!" Arnie says.
"Arnie please come down" I say to him worry growing in the pit of my stomach.
"I'm going higher than before! I'm going high!" Arnie says
"Don't make us come get you!" The police threatened.
"l... You don't have to come get me! I'm goin' up here!" Arnie replies.
"Arnie?" Gilbert calls out to him.
"Whoa! I'm not gonna fall!" He says slightly tilting to the side as he hangs off the ladder.
"I'm not gonna fall!!" He repeats and as if on cue right at that moment his shoe slipped off and fell to the ground.
"Hey! My shoe done fell off!!" he said.
"My shoe done fell off Blair!!"
"My shoe done fell off Gilbert" Arnie repeated laughing.
The more time passed with Arnie up there the more nervous I got.
Then a lightbulb went off in my head and I instinctively grabbed the megaphone from the officer.
"I know a boy whose name is Arnie, He's about to turn 18 and have a big party" I sang into the megaphone.
"I know a boy, whose name is Arnie" I kept singing for him.
"Come on down Arnie please" I told him.
He was considering it based on the fact that he was smiling and had stopped climbing upwards.
Gilbert then grabbed the megaphone and sung into it "match in the gas tank, boom boom".
"Match in the gas tank, boom boom" he repeated looking at Arnie hopefully.
I could hear Arnie singing the song as well as he began his descend.
I sighed out in relief as Gilbert walked over to get him with a smile "good boy" he said to him.
