"Is everything ready?" I questioned running down stairs after I had finished getting ready for the day.

Today both me and Gilbert were off, so we decided to go on a picnic at the beach. Gilbert said he'd be okay with taking responsibility with making the food but I insisted that I could.

Well, technically my mom could. I may be a grown woman but I honestly can't cook for shit.

So, she made us food.

I, on the other hand, only had the ability to cut up fruit and attempt to make some macaroons for Gilbert, with mothers supervision of course.

She said they turned out fine, I took her word for it.

My mother looked at me with a smile as she passed me the basket.

"All set".

I smiled and thanked her.

"So Blair...you never told me which friend you were going on this 'hang-out' with" she said looking at me with a smirk.

I blushed, knowing that my mother had caught on that this wasn't a normal hang-out and that it was in fact a date.

I was about to answer until I heard a vehicle pulling up outside my house.

My mother also looked out the window, curiosity painted all over her features.

Gilbert exited the car and my mother lost it.

"Oh.My.God!!! That's Gilbert!! The hot guy I found you all cuddled up with a couple days ago" she gushed.

I blushed "ma...".

She smiled and handed me the picnic basket "no time for talking, go on honey, that hunk is waiting for you".

I was about to walk out until my mother pulled me back.

She fluffed up my hair and unzipped my cropped sweater so that my white cropped top was showing.

I blushed "mom!!".

She put on her thinking face "darling, that rose pink tinted chapstick is cute...but maybe wearing actual lipstick will make you seem sexier to him" she said.

I groaned "okay, mom I'm leaving now!!" I said as I opened the door and walked out.

I saw Gilbert leaning against the hood of his car, smiling at me once he saw that I had walked out.

I smiled back at him and set the basket down on my porch so I could run toward him in excitement.

He laughed and opened his arms, which I ran into jumping up and wrapping my legs around his waist as I buried my face in his hair with my arms wrapped around his neck.

His hands were at my waist, holding me up and hugging me close as he kissed the side of my head.

I pulled back from the hug but didn't get off of Gilbert.

"Hi" I breathed out with a smile on my lips.

"Hey" he said also smiling.

"Ready to spend all day with me?" I asked with a grin.

"It's a dream come true for me babygirl" he responds his grin mirroring mine.

I shrug my shoulders slightly "I don't know, I can be clingy" I say warning him.

He chuckles "I see nothing wrong with that, in fact that sounds like the best day ever to me".

I smile at him and lean down slowly with the intention of giving him a kiss.
