It was the next day and I was getting ready to go to Lamson's grocery for my shift at work.

I felt giddy and excited today. Giddy and excited to see Gilbert, To just be near him again, to feel his warm presence.

Once I was ready, I skipped down the stairs by two steps, passing by my parents who both looked at me suspiciously.

"She look different to you?" My father whispered to my mom.

My mom nodded "she's...glowing".

I ignored them, too immersed in my own mind to even make a comment about it.

I was about to exit the house until I heard a ring come from upstairs.

I thought about who it could be, it couldn't be Becky or Oliver I just got off a three-way call with them a couple minutes ago.

So who else would call me this early?

A certain someone crossed my mind and I felt my heart skip a beat.

I smiled as I quickly ran to get it.

I excitedly answered the phone, hoping that it was the person I've been dying to see.

"Babygirl" I heard on the other and my smile widened as I recognized the voice.

Gilbert.

"Yes?" I responded in a sing-song tone.

"You haven't left home yet, have you?" He questioned.

"Nope, I was about to leave right now" I said.

"Well, don't leave yet, I'm coming to pick you
up"  he said.

I bit my lip trying to contain my smile.

"Why? Missed me too much?" I respond with a slight smirk.

"Maybe I do, maybe I was just in the area and knew you've been dying to see me" he responded and I swore I could hear the smirk in his tone.

"I believe it's the other way around mr grape, I'm sure you can't wait to see me" I say with my own smirk.

He chuckles "you know what? Your absolutely right, I'll be there soon babygirl".

"Okay, I love you" I responded in a soft and shy voice, feeling myself blush for my cheesy choice of words.

Gilbert on the other hand seemed to enjoy it a whole lot.

"Jesus your adorable, I love you too babygirl, hang on I'm almost there" he said.

I laughed and then hang up, waiting expectantly for his faded yellow pick up truck to pull up.

After waiting a couple minutes I finally see his truck park on the side of the road and immediately run downstairs.

"Oh, hey honey, do you want something to eat before you go?" My mother asks me, looking at me with furrowed eyebrows as she sees me speed past her.

"No thanks mom!" I call back as I exit the house.

I closed the front door and ran as fast I could across the field that separated my house from the road Gilbert's truck was parked in.

Once I reached the door of the truck I was panting and out of breath. "Damn...I gotta work on my cardio" I say leaning my elbows against the window of the door.

I look over at Gilbert, who was already looking at me with an amused smile.

I smile back and pull on the handle of the door only to find it locked.
