Weasley cannot save a thing
He cannot block a single ring
That's why the Slytherin's all sing
Weasley is our king

Weasley was born in a bin
He always lets the Quaffle in
Weasley will make sure we win
Weasley is our king"

That's all I could hear. The song that me Draco and Blaise wrote in preparation for the Slytherin VS Gryffindor match. We put it up in the common room and put out badged in crown shapes that said 'Weasley is our king'.

We were in the middle of singing the chorus when professor McGonagall grabbed the mic of Lee Jordan, who was commentating extra loud to try and drown our voices. Is it necessary to say he failed? I thought that McGonagall might be telling us off for picking on Weasley although I hardly think it was our fault; he was a horrible keeper.

But instead she said in a sorrowful tone, "all students must return to their common where your heads of houses will explain the situation, all quidditch matches are hereby cancelled until further notice. Teachers please make your way to the third floor, after explaining to your respective students."

The groans floated through the stadium as we all walked back to our common rooms. Out of the corner of my eye I saw McGonagall signalling for Harry and Ron to follow her. Hermione was out of sight, and that got me suspicious.

I decided to follow them, concealed in the shadows, and they lead me to the hospital wing, where I saw Hermione laying on the dingy white beds. She looked like she was impersonating a dead person, but I knew better, she was petrified.

McGonagall left them and I moved closer still wrapped in the shadows. I saw a piece of parchment clenched in her fist. I knew that they hadn't seen it, they were too caught up in their worries. I stepped forward and gently lifted it, without moving her fingers.

They were turned in the opposite direction, thankfully probably looking for the matron. I read it through quickly, and realisation hit me. Hermione was a lot smarter than I gave her credit for.

But as much as I hate to admit it to do this I'd need their help. I placed a silencing charm on the door that the matron had just exited and dropped the shadows. As I presumed both Ron and Harry yelled out.

"shut up," I hissed.

"what are you doing here?" Harry asked venomously.

"look," I said, trying to reason with them, "this is hard for me to do but, we need to work together. Hermione found it out. She knows how the monster did it, that's why she was attacked. It's a Basilisk, a giant snake, that's why we can hear it, Parseltongue. It's using the plumbing to get around, it can kill with one look of its eye."

"you want to work together?" Ron asked still processing. I rolled my eyes, I had just explained everything, and he was still on that,

"well, my wants are different from my needs."

"If it kills with a look of the eye how come no one's dead?" Harry asked.
Hermione hadn't covered that in her paper. I thought for a moment wondering what had happened.

"well ... no one really looked it in the eye did they. I mean that Creevey creep had his camera, and Granger was found with a mirror. And Justin saw it through Nick, and Nick got the full blast but he's a ghost, he can't die again. And the cat... the cat-"

"yeah, Nico, I'm pretty sure the cat didn't have a mirror or camera or ghost." Ron said, as though I had just made it all up.

"the water," Harry said slowly.

"what?" Ron said confused.

"moaning Myrtle, she flooded the corridor that day. Mrs Norris only saw the reflection of the beast." he finished, leaving Ron looking like we had grown 3 heads.
