                                                           "A New Friend"

I pulled into the school parking lot on Friday with my eyes drooping. I was beyond tired because Luke kept me up on the Xbox until two o’clock this morning. I dragged myself out of my car and grabbed my bag from the back. I slung it over my shoulder before heading towards the school. I just wanted to get this day over with.

“Clary,” a boys voice called out. I turned and saw a familiar boy coming towards me.

“Hi Daniel,” I said as I smile came over my face.

“How are you doing,” he asked as he flipped his hair out of his eyes.

“Good except for how tired I am,” I said as I yawned.

“Why are you tired,” he asked as we continued walking.

“My brother kept me up playing the Xbox last night,” I said as I frowned.

“It can become addictive,” he said with a laugh.

“You should have told me that,” I told him as I sent him a small smile.

“Sorry. My boss doesn’t like it when I warn people,” he told me.

“I guess I can forgive you this time,” I told him as we walked in the school and headed towards my locker.

“I would appreciate it,” he told me as he propped against the locker next to mine.

“So is it a coincidence that you found me this morning or were you looking for me?”

“I was looking for you,” he admitted with a smile.

“Do you want to tell me why,” I asked as I shut my locker and turned towards him.

“I just wanted to see you,” he said rubbing the back of his neck.

“Well that’s nice,” I said as I walked away.

“So you never called me,” he said as he caught up with me.

“Did you want me to,” I asked.

“Yeah. So why didn’t you,” he asked.

“I didn’t know why you wanted me to,” I said with a shrug.

“I just think that we could be friends,” he said.

“Just friends,” I asked as I walked into my classroom.

“If that’s what you want,” he said as he sat beside me.

“Are you in this class,” I asked.

“Yeah,” he said with a grin.

“I really need to start paying more attention,” I said.
