"Be your own hero"

Lace wobbles to the house entrance with a clumsy type of grace. She notices a man looking at her from the window and frowns,

Did she look weird?

She then follows his gaze to her exposed thigh and turns bright red. In her AP art class, she was given a sharpie and sorta drew on herself for the kicks. Lace snaps out of her trance and walks to the door, pushing the doorbell. Almost immediately Judy answers the door and hugs both Lace and Daliah. Max comes through the hallway and hugs both of the Reigne's and Lace shyly gives him the gift. Daliah wanted to get him a letter but Lace argued that they should give him something personal. Daliah suggested that she painted him something and Lace had no choice but to agree.

"Jonah, get down here. Lace is here."His mother yells. Jonah appears a couple of minutes later clad in a button up shirt and a pair of black dress pants. At the sight of Jonah, Lace's fist tightens around her phone.

"Hi, Mrs. Reigne, Hi sugardoll." Jonah hugs both of them and Lace cringes as he goes to hug her. His arm circles around her waist and he leans in and his lips ghost her ears,

"You look beautiful princess." He tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. Lace steps out of his embrace and sits down on the couch, Jonah following.

"Why don't you take Lace up to your room?" Max asks Jonah who nods and grabs Lace's wrist. Lace falls as her heel gets stuck on the table leg. All the adults rush to the small girl who is sending mental daggers toward Jonah.

"I'm okay." Lace reties her heel and follows Jonah to his room.

"Okay so we have thirty minutes until we have to leave so what do you want to do, huh." Jonah sits on the bed next to her. Lace shrugs, feeling the most awkward in a while. She looks down and plays with her nails while Jonah just goes on his phone. He's been wanting to hug and cuddle his sugar doll but it was too early for that. Twenty minutes later, Lace's mom calls her downstairs.

"Lace get down here for a second!" Lace sighs and pushes herself off the bed, walking downstairs.

"Can you play a song for them, Lace?" Her mother asks as her daughter shies away but nods anyway. Lace sits down at the untouched grand piano and starts to play the opening notes to Vienna by Billy Joel. All of a sudden the phone rings, letting the group know that it was time to go to the restaurant.
