"A wolf,

Will never be a pet,"

Lace's gladiator sandals clack down the streets of St.Martin square as she walks to the selected meeting place. Her backpack clatters with every step that she takes. Lace groans, her neck was getting hot again, every part of Burgess had different weather. She takes a rubber band off her wrist and makes a high ponytail. At least Val can't touch my hair, she thinks and looks around at where she was. It was a corner of stores only but she couldn't find Val anywhere.

"Sugar doll?" Lace turns around to see Val approaching her with an eyebrow raised. She turns around and he smiles, hugging the small girl. Val looks to his right and sees green hair,

"What did you do to your hair Lace?" He murmured, his aunt and uncle disliked girls not being "proper". He repeats the question louder,

"What did you do to your hair Lace?"

"I chalked it. It comes out in a wash." She quickly rushes it all out, scared of what Val would do. He nods and mutters something under his breath that she couldn't decipher.

"Where do you want to go ,love?" Val asks and Lace shrugs, she had never really gone this far away from home before.

"How about we go to the craft store?" Lace's eyes light up and she nods, she needs some new supplies anyways.Val grabs her hand and pulls her to the small art store. The manager waves to Val and he lets go of Lace's hand. Lace squeals and runs to the sketchbook aisle, she would have a hard time limiting herself.

Val walks up the owner, Sam, he met him when he was in Australia and they became best friends. Sam was there since he was an exchange student and he was part of the entente.

"Who's the new girl?" he questions as Val bluntly responds,

"My girlfriend." Sam whistles as his eyes roam around looking at Lace's figure. His eyes fall upon the bracelet sitting in her wrist.

"Was she the girl whose friend we killed?" He whispered as Val nods,

"It was for the best." Val was keeping a close eye on his princess, making sure that she wouldn't hear this. What he didn't know was that she overheard everything and kept quiet. She walks up to Val with her stuff in hand and nods.

"Are you done?" Lace nods and puts her stuff on the counter, pulling out her wallet to pay for the materials. Val stops her and pulls out his credit card wanting to pay for her. Both of them exited the shop as Val pulls Lace aside,

"We're going out on a date tomorrow. You will be meeting the rest of my family. If you aren't dressed by 6:00, I will dress you myself." Shaken up, Lace nods, tears sliding down her cheeks as she climbs onto the bus home.
