"Oh sweetie, you're not ugly.

Society is."

As Lace hums from the feeling of the brush going through her scalp, Val starts to speak,

"I was thinking that after I do your hair we should go tell our parents." He gently kisses the back of her hair as Lace signs,

"Right now?". He sees this and nods, Lace going with the act. Val parts her hair and scowls,

"Do you straighten your hair?" Lace meekly nods and Val gets up from his position, only to return with a straightener and her speaker. He connects his phone to the speaker and Knee Socks starts playing. Val hums along as he gently pulls the straightener through her hair. The small girl in front of him starts to pick up her phone and absentmindedly goes through her apps and stops when she sees that Val has contact. I can't believe that he went through my phone she thinks as Val taps her shoulder snapping her out of her daze. He grabs her hand and pulls her downstairs, toward the parents.

"Mom, dad, Mrs.Reigne, Lace and I want to date. Is that okay?" His deep voice breaks the adults out of whatever conversation that they were having and all of them look toward Lace. She shyly nods desperately trying to not lose her cool.

"That's great!" Judy says going up to hug the small girl. Lace hugs back letting the redhead stroke her hair. What was it with them and her hair?

"Did you do something to your hair? It looks different compared to when we got here." Val beams with pride and says,

"I did her hair for her since it was looking a bit messy. I can't have my princess looking messy when she's not with me only can I?" Val lovingly pushes a piece of straight hair behind her ear. All the adults awwed but Lace looks deep into his eyes seeing love and one other emotion, obsession.

"Lace why don't you show Val what you got in France." Daliah asks as her eyes sparkle, her daughter would be marrying a rich dude. Lace sighs, all she got were some new hair tools. She smiles anyways and grabs Val's hand leading him upstairs. Val follows her into her room and she takes out a bag. She pulls out the items and sits down on the bed, bored. Val was confused, most girls would want these products but Lace doesn't look like she wants them.

"What's wrong?" Lace hears Val say. She looks up and signs,

"When I go to France I get jewelry and art supplies, but when we went there last week my mom just chatted with my aunt and didn't get anything for me." Val scoffs at this and tilts her head up,

"I'll get you anything you want princess. Just ask me."
