"Blessed are curious for they
Shall have adventures."
On the day of the flight Lace gets up at six am and grins happily, she would be going home. Her mom peeks in the doorframe,
"Oh, Lace you're already up. Go get changed, we leave in an hour." Lace rolls out of her bed and skips to the record player and puts in the Best of Bill Withers in the player. Ain't No Sunshine starts to play as Lace gets ready for the long journey. She pulls on a pair of black leggings and a tie-dye shirt, walking out of her bathroom. She goes to the top of her drawer and looks at her jewelry. Lace decides to put all her piercings in, including her nose piercing. While she's slipping on her rings and her anklets, her mother is printing out their boarding passes. Lace's slips on her sandals, putting the backpack on and rolling her suitcase down the stairs.
"Bonjour Lace." Daliah waves at her daughter who sits at the table eating a light breakfast. The small girl puts her glasses on, ready to start the 24 hour journey.
"How are we getting to the Portland jetport?" Lace questions. Burgess was a small town that was an hour away from the big capital of Portland.
"We'll drive to Portland using a rental." Lace looks up hopefully, maybe the car would be a convertible! She had always wanted to ride in one when suddenly a car honks outside.
"Looks like they're here." Daliah grunts and pulls the suitcase outside as Lace follows. Lace's hopes quickly get crushed when she sees a regular SUV out front. Lace frowns, but still helps Daliah put the suitcases in the trunk as she sits in the back row. Lace rubs her eyes and slowly falls asleep laying horizontally on the three seats.
"Lace. Lace!" Daliah shakes her daughter, as a groggy Lace's eyes open.
"Where are we?" She says, stepping out of the car and stretching. Lace walks to the trunk and pulls out the bags while Daliah is paying for the car.
"Let's go maman."Lace skips into the airport and scans the board to find the check-in desk for her flight.
"Lace, wait up." Daliah chuckles walking to the next attendant available desk. As her mother chats with the attendant Lace fumbles with the straps of her backpack.
"Comment tu t'appelle?" The lady asks as Lace jumps frightened.
"Moi?" Lace points to herself as the lady nods,
"Je m'appelle Lace Reigne." The lady nods handing her mother the boarding card, both of the women walking to the security, getting ready to go home.
