Warnings: Some angst, but fluff at the end
Sry for taking so long to update! I'm kind of a perfectionist and I spend a lot of time after I finish a story to add little touch-ups.
Enjoy!
Third-person pov.
After three days of agonizing uncertainty and constant worry, you finally find yourself sitting with the Royal family, on their dinner table, wearing a gorgeous, tailored dress and sitting in front of the most luxurious and delicate food that you've ever seen in your life. You stare at everything in awe. Never in your life have you thought about actually sitting on the same table as these people.
You swallow hard, finding it hard to eat anything. Loki is sitting directly opposite of you and Thor, the almighty God of Thunder is sitting right beside you. Frigga looks satisfied. You figure she has something to do with this unusual arrangement of the seating.
During dinner, nobody is saying much, except for the occasional chat between Thor and Odin on political matters about Asgard, a constant exchange of looks from Thor and Frigga, and frequently stolen glances and compliments from Thor to you.
"Wow, this is strange. So the Odinson brothers are both into me? No wonder Frigga has arranged this, but why is Loki here as well?" you think to yourself, confused, yet can't do or say anything about this.
Thor's glances are getting more and more frequent and Loki seems to be mad about it. His jaw is clenched, hands in fists, you can tell it's a matter of seconds before he stands up and punches Thor in the face.
Finally, you couldn't take it anymore. You stand up abruptly, causing everyone to look at you in shock, especially Loki, you can see a distinct frown on his now pale-from-anger face. You slowly turn to Thor and sign before you inform him.
'Could we...talk in private...please? My prince?' you stumble over your words.
'Yes, of course, Lady y/n.' Thor stands up and starts walking towards the balcony.
You follow suit, his massive strikes are hard to match.
As soon as he shuts the door, you begin speaking.
'Thor, I know you don't truly like me, romantically. But your actions tonight are confusing. I know this probably has something to do with Queen Frigga, so please would you tell me what is happening?' you finish in one breathe and are secretly relieved that you got everything out without making a fool of yourself.
Thor couldn't hide that smile anymore. After a while of thinking of how to put the words correctly, he finally answers excitedly. 'Alright, Lady y/n, I'm sorry about all the confusion that I have caused you. I'll admit this is a doing by mother and me. But I promise you,' he adds quickly, 'our intentions are all good, and so far our plan is working.'
'What plan?'
'Well, mother told me all about your fight with Loki and I do love my brother, I want him to be happy again. So mother and I made up a scheme to anger him until jealousy finally drives him to confession." Thor explains patiently.
'But he has already confessed himself, and I think I've made myself clear enough that we shouldn't be together.'
'No, Lady y/n, the true confession. My brother really should've been honest with you from the beginning. But you have to tolerate him. He's never fell for someone so hard, you clearly - Oh! here he comes.' Thor is interrupted by a raging Loki pushing the balcony door open.
'Y/n you can't be with him, he doesn't truly love you, I do! I'm the person that you should be with.' Loki looks ma. But his pleading and desperate eyes give him away.
'Right, I should probably leave you two be. Good luck y/n.' Thor looks at you knowingly and sneaks back.
'What? So Thor isn't confessing his love for you?' says Loki, whose looking just as confused as you were.
You can't help but lets out a little laugh at how adorable he is which isn't so well received on Loki's end. 'Loki, Thor was only doing what he did to get you to confess to me about something. What is it that you're hiding from me. I'm more willing than anything for us to work, but you need to be honest with me.'
Loki's pov.
I look down at my feet. I'm still unbelievably mad at my brother, but deep down, I'm so incredibly thankful. That moment of desperation, the idea of losing her was already too much, and watching her becoming someone else's is simply unbearable. I was a fool for not telling her everything. Our relationship won't be able to work out anymore if I told her this, but I can't, I have to take a leap of faith as y/n is just like me.
'Look y/n, my feelings for have not changed for the slightest ever since we last talked. But I figured I have to make the sacrifice, I had to face my fears someday.' I sigh heavily, looking at her deep in the eyes 'Okay, here comes, y/n, I'm a frost giant.'
Y/n's eyes widen in shock and before she could utter a word, I gently place a finger on her soft lips. 'I just want to explain myself first before you say anything.
After you walked out of my room that day I realized that I had said the wrong thing and I know everything was going way too fast. Since I was a child I was the outsider, people called me a nerd and nobody wanted to spend time with me except Thor, but I think he was just doing it out of sympathy.' I smile bitterly, 'then I found out the truth about my birth. I was cynical, lonely, destructive. My dream was to become a King someday, but that will never happen. Until I met you. Before that, I thought my heart had turned stone-cold and that I had lost all hope in life, but you woke that soft spot, you lit up the fire inside me and it's only burning just for you.'
I pick up her hand and place it on my beating heart.
'When you told me that you were a Midgardian and poured out all your feelings I couldn't believe my ears. We are made for each other. We are two lonely souls in the universe, and we are lucky enough that we found each other, therefore we should seize our opportunity! I didn't believe in soulmates until...until I met you. At that very moment, I couldn't help myself anymore, I had to tell you, had to tell you about my love for you. And I'm very, truly sorry if I had scared you away.
So please? Just give me another chance, I...I'm willing to go with you, to anywhere, to pursue your dreams. I don't care, as long as I'm with you and that's all that matters.'
Y/n's pov.
'Wow, Loki...I...I love you too.' I confess without thinking. My eyes are glistening with tears. I look up to him, 'I love you Loki.'
At first, it's disbelief that has filled his eyes, and then it turns into the purest joy that I've never seen in my life. I slowly rise to my tippy-toe and finally, my lips crash on his. Everything just feels so right. All our worries and concerns have been thrown away and all we could think about was each other.
Heyyyy! I've finally finished this series, hope you liked it. It took a long time to finish and I've put a lot of thoughts into this story.
