"stop it!" nini laughs as she slaps james' hand away from her fries again.
"please?! i'm leaving you know?" he pouts
"should've ordered your own. and besides, it's not like your going to an abandoned island." nini smirks
"fine you win." he says
nini giggles as she sips her chocolate milkshake and james checks his phone.
"i've got to go. my dad needs me at home." he tells her
she nods as he gets up from the booth and gives her a quick kiss before leaving.
the brunette girl was now alone and she decided to come up with a few other ideas for her and ricky's song.
she opens her notebook and starts writing.

ricky walked through the roads alone since gina had dance class and big red was at a coding thing. ricky didn't really pay attention when he talked about computers
he arrives at the café and decides to get some food, but when he enters, he sees nini sitting alone and writing in her notebook.
before ricky can turn around and leave, she sees him.
he doesn't want to seem like he's avoiding her.
he is, but she doesn't need to know that.
so, ricky walks over to her.
"hi."
"hey." she smiles
'smiling is a good sign?'
"uh-why are you alone?" ricky asks
"well, maya and carlos have dance, kourt, seb and ash have drama club, jacob has boxing and aria is back home." nini explains
"and uh- what about-" ricky clenches his jaw "james?"
nini raises her eyebrows slightly, realizing the slight tension, "he's flying to l.a for a few weeks. family stuff."
ricky nods and takes a deep breath. "look, nini. i know that we've had a rough patch and we might still be going through it, i get that i hurt you. i do, but i was wondering if-maybe we could be-"
"friends." nini smiles slightly
ricky looks at her in disbelief and nods "yeah."
"well the first thing you should do, is not stand there like an awkward person." nini laughs
ricky joins her and slowly sits down opposite her.
the girl didn't know what made her forgive him so easily or want him to be her friend either. she just knew that she didn't want any enemies.
they both went deep into conversation about random things and it was as though nothing had changed
they were both happy that they could at least be civil.
"so you made only two friends in chicago?!" nini asks shocked
ricky laughs "yeah, they were the only ones that were decent. sarah and tj."
nini hears her name and feels a little more relaxed.
"that's good." nini smiles
the girl checks her phone and sees that it's been a few hours.
"i should go." she says
"yeah." he breathes
nini stands up and takes her bag and notebook to leave
"see you tomorrow."
ricky nods and watches her walk on the sidewalk through the window with a small smile

ricky explains everything that happened between him and nini, causing tj and sarah to go ballistic
"that's amazing nugget!" sarah squeals
"yeah!" ricky exclaims happily
"wait, her boyfriend is out of town?" tj asks
"yeah, he went back to l.a for this family thing."
"isn't that a little weird though?" sarah asks cautiously
"what do you mean?" ricky squints his eyes and scrunches his eyebrows in confusion
tj gives the same expression and sarah rolls her eyes
"honestly you two." she sighs
"maybe just explain?" tj says
"i'm saying that, it's the beginning of the year and he's just leaving like that? because of a family thing? and he just posted a vlog saying that he's traveling back to l.a? if it was that serious, why share it so openly?" sarah questions
"well why else would he be going to l.a?" sarah asks
ricky and tj nod in thought.
if there really was a family problem, why is he filming it?
