nini was nervously pacing back and forth in her living room waiting for ricky to pick her up.
they were both going ice skating today and nini felt like it would be the right time to tell him that she wanted to try them again.
the sound of the doorbell is heard and nini takes a deep breath and opens the door, plastering a smile on her face as she meets ricky.
"you ready?" he asks
nini nods and takes her bag and coat before following him out to the cold.
they quickly enter his car and he turns the heater and radio up as he starts to drive.
"we're finally on holiday!" nini exclaims
ricky laughs "yeah we are. you're going to gina's christmas party right?"
nini shrugs her shoulders.
she's never really been to a high school party and if she was going to go, she was going to make sure that her friends would go and stay with her. because she's seen too many movies to know that parties usually don't go well.
"if i go, you go. deal?" he smirks
nini laughs "if i go, you have to not ditch me."
"i'd never leave you alone with a bunch of drunk guys!" he tells her as he grips the wheel tighter
nini feels the heat rise to her cheeks and she turns to look at the window.
"right."
they both continue the drive in silence and arrive at the ice rink.
the next few hours was filled with ricky ice-skating like a pro and nini barely keeping it together.
eventually, ricky had to awkwardly hold her hand and guide her around.
a stranger around them would think that they were a couple, but they knew that wasn't the case.
it felt nervous for the both of them at first, but also right. so they decided to push that uneasy feeling down and have fun.
by the end, they were laughing and making fun of each other.

ricky and nini went to the café later in the evening to eat something before nini had to go home.
they both enter the place, still laughing about how nini made both of them fall over, as they sit down at a booth in the corner
"-it wasn't funny!" ricky says laughing
"then why are you laughing?!" she smirks
"because you fell." he tells her
nini playfully rolls her eyes and they order their food.
the bell rings and ricky lifts his head with his eyes wide with shock.
"what the-?!" he gets up and speeds towards the two people that had entered the café.
"sup nugget!" sarah giggles as she hugs him
"what are you guys doing here?!" ricky exclaims with a laugh
"we're here to see you." tj tells him, rolling his eyes as he states the obvious
nini looks at the three talking and decides to stand up and meet them
"hi." she says nervously
"oh! sorry, we didn't know you two were-" sarah begins with a smirk
"hanging out?" ricky finishes, giving her a look
"yeah..." tj nods sarcastically
"i'm nini." she smiles
"nice to meet you!" sarah squeals as she hugs her "i'm sarah and this is tj."
nini forces a smile when she sees how pretty and nice sarah is. and she's close with ricky.
'great.'
"how long are you guys here for?" nini asks
"just for two weeks." tj answers
nini nods and feels her stomach churn. of course she was jealous. she doesn't even know if ricky knows that she still feels the same way about him. she hoped that maybe he would've made a move on her or something after everything that they'd been through over these past two months, but nothing.
"i should go." nini says, feeling slightly uncomfortable
"you can stay with us." tj tells her
"yeah stay!" sarah pleads
"i have to get home for - uh- dinner. my moms are expecting me so-"
ricky scrunches his eyebrows in confusion. they were literally here for dinner. what was up with her?
"are you okay?" ricky asks her
nini nods with a smile "i'm fine."
ricky looks at her cautiously before following her out of the café and to his car.
the drive is silent with nini keeping her eyes on the window and ricky sneaking glances of worry in her direction
once they pull up, nini opens the door to leave, but ricky takes her hand to stop her.
"nini are you sure you're okay?" he asks her
she turns back to him "why would you think otherwise?"
"because, you're just acting... off?"
nini smiles softly "i'm fine ricky."
ricky nods and let's go if her hand. she slowly climbs out of the car and just as she walks up to her door, ricky rolls down his window.
"nini!" he yells
the girl turns around with hope in her eyes, eager to hear what he has to say.
"what's up?" she asks, trying to act nonchalant
"i-" the boy takes a deep breath. "i just wanted to say-"
he tries to say what he's always wanted to say, but he can't. he has no idea why the words can't come out of his mouth, but they just can't.
ricky sighs. "goodnight."
nini lets out a breath of slight disappointment and nods with a sad smile.
