the three salazar-roberts kids arrived at school the next morning and nini was not looking forward to it.

when she arrives, she sees james walking in the hallway.

the girl squeaks and and opens her locker as she steps inside.

"nini what are you-"

"cover for me now. explain later." she whispers as she closes the locker and hides inside it.

"what the hell is she-"

"hey guys!" james exclaims

jacob and aria raise their eyebrows and widen their eyes

"uh- h-hey james!" aria says with a fake smile

"i've missed you guys." he says

jacob scoffs, making aria slap his shoulder

"us too." jacob says quickly

james scrunches his eyebrows in confusion

"have you guys seen nini?" he asks

"uh-"

"she's at the lockers somewhere." aria tells him

james nods

"i'll go find her. thanks guys."

the boy walks off and aria and jacob let out a breath before the girl knocks on nini's locker and opens it.

nini jumps out and straightens her shirt before adjusting her backpack

"would you mind explaining what that was?" jacob asks

"i don't want to see him or talk to him yet." nini says

the two nod in understanding and aria sees ricky approaching

"hey look it's ri-"

"hide me!" nini exclaims quietly as she jumps back into her locker

"n-"

"have you guys seen nini?" ricky asks

"uh- she's just- she's-" aria has no idea what to say

"she went looking for mr mazzara about a question for calculus." jacob lies

aria looks at her brother confused and he gives her a look

ricky notices that they're being weird

"what's going on?" ricky asks them.

"nothing!" the two of them yell in unison.

ricky squints his eyes slightly before cautiously nodding

"could you tell her that i'm looking for her?"

aria and jacob nod frantically and ricky speeds away.

jacob knocks on the locker and opens it this time for nini and she jumps out.

"okay, now what was that about?" aria questions, folding her arms over her chest

nini takes a deep breath "well, i think me and ricky had a moment and i just feel awkward to talk about it with him right now. plus i have a boyfriend that i have to break up with." she groans

jacob and aria nod, trying to comprehend what was happening until the bell rang.

"great! now i have history." nini sighs

"with ricky." aria says

"yeah thanks ari, i got that." nini says, rolling her eyes

aria giggles and jacob shakes his head with a smile before they all part ways.
