NATALIE KANE
The sun peeked though the blinds and shined directly into my eyes. I groaned and rolled over. Everything kept playing over and over in my head last night, and I had trouble falling asleep. I grabbed my phone from the nightstand to check it; it was dead.
Reluctantly, I got up to plug it in. I had five missed calls from Jenna and about a dozen text messages. Shit. I had completely forgotten about Jenna. After all that I'd been through these past several weeks, of course she'd be worried about me. I let out a deep breath as I mustered up the courage to confront her.
When I made my way into the living room, Jenna was sitting on the couch with her arms folded across her chest. Her eyes were narrowed at me and she had a scowl on her face. She was mad; big mad.
"I can explain," I blurted out, before she could start yelling. This was kind of a lie. I couldn't tell her the whole truth, I had promised Cody last night that I wouldn't tell anyone about him being a werewolf. It's not like she would have believed me anyway.
Jenna stood up from the couch. I didn't think it was possible, but she looked even more angry than before. "Explain what, exactly? How you just didn't come home after work last night? How you couldn't have been bothered to pick up your phone to text or call to let me know where you were going or to at least let me know you were safe? Why you didn't answer any of my calls or texts? I know I'm not your mother, but Jesus Christ Natalie, I was worried sick. I was out half the night looking for you, scared to death that something bad had happened." I could feel tears start to well up in my eyes. "I came home to find you asleep in your bed. I had half a mind to wake you up, right then and there, to cuss you out, but I decided to let you sleep and let you have it in the morning." She took a deep breath to try to calm herself. "Where the hell were you?"
"Promise not to freak out until I'm done telling you everything?" I asked, hopefully.
"You asking me that is probably only going to make me freak out more." Jenna furrowed her eyebrows.
"It was worth a shot," I nervously giggled. She was not amused.
I told her everything, minus the werewolf parts, of course. How Dylan had cornered me on my way home from work. How Cody "happened" to be in the area and came to my rescue, obviously leaving out some of the minor violent details. And then how Cody and I talked for a while and I had lost track of the time and my phone had gone dead.
Jenna stood in front of me with her mouth hanging open, not saying a word. She was speechless, that didn't happen often. "I don't even know where to begin," she said after a few minutes of silence.
"Then can we not talk about it and forget anything ever happened?" I asked, hopefully.
Jenna laughed, not a funny laugh, but a pissed off one. "Yeah, right. Dylan got a hold of you and you're hanging out with that Cody dude, and you just expect me to drop it?" I shrugged. "What if Dylan comes after you again? Nat, he violated the restraining order. You need to go to the police."
"No," I blurted out. I took a deep breath and softened my tone. "That's not necessary. Cody roughed him up pretty bad. I don't think he'll be bothering me anymore."
"You don't know that. What if he does? You might not be so lucky next time. It's not like Cody's always going to be around the corner every time you're in trouble."

The Wolf That Saved Me
Werewolf** "Hey," I squeaked back. I didn't know why he was so intimidating, but for some odd reason, I kind of liked it. It wasn't a scary intimidating, I wasn't afraid of him at all. He was intriguing, sexy, and a man who screamed danger, but at the same...
