CODY HARVILLE

Before I had the chance to ask any of the millions of questions that were floating around in my head, Natalie leapt into my arms, throwing her arms around my neck and tightly wrapping her legs around my waist.

"Couldn't stay away from me, huh?" I smirked, tangling my fingers in her hair.

"Shut up and kiss me," she breathed, as she hastily pressed her soft, plump lips against mine.

Her lips tasted like cotton candy, and the warm smell of vanilla surrounded me as I kissed her back hungrily. I nipped at her bottom lip and a soft moan erupted from her chest. Jesus fucking Christ. That was enough to set me off and my animal instinct kicked in. I let out a throaty growl, and in one swift motion, I kicked the door shut with my foot and pinned her up against it. She hissed against my lips, as she squeezed her legs tighter, her eyes filled with lust. I groaned as I trailed soft kisses down her chin, down her neck, to right above her collarbone. I ran my tongue along the exposed piece of flesh as another low growl escaped from my throat. She let out a breathy sigh as she closed her eyes and knotted her fingers in my hair, tugging lightly.

I wanted to mark her, right then and there, but I knew it was neither the time nor place for that. My wolf would have to wait. He whimpered as I willed him to hold back, nipping at the soft spot above her collarbone. Natalie bit her lip, trying to stifle the moans that were threatening to escape, but could no longer hold back as soon as I ground my hips into hers.

She dug her nails into my back while arching hers. "Oh, fuck."

"Ahem."

I growled as I snapped my head around and my eyes landed on Alpha Jason, who was standing directly behind me. He had an eyebrow raised and a slight smirk played on his lips.

Natalie unwrapped her legs from around my waist, placing her feet back down on the floor, and hid behind me. She looked nervous.

Jason snorted, trying to hold in a laugh. "Sorry for interrupting." He shook his head, unable to hide the grin plastered across his face. He looked over at Natalie. "Nice to see you again. Welcome to the pack." Without saying another word, he turned around and walked away into the kitchen, his faint chuckles trailing off behind him.

Natalie stood beside me, looking both shocked and confused. The last time she had visited the packhouse, Jason hadn't been so friendly, and I could tell his sudden change in demeanor had thrown her off guard. "He doesn't see you as a threat anymore, now that we're mates," I explained. "He never actually disliked you as a person, I mean how could he? He doesn't even know anything about you except that you're human. And you being human is precisely why he treated you the way he did. You had the power to expose us for what we really are, which would have put our entire pack in danger."

Natalie's face fell as she looked at me with such sincerity. "I would have never done that, even if we weren't mates."

I planted a soft kiss on her forehead. "I know." A small smile formed on my lips. "And now Alpha Jason does too."

We decided to go upstairs to my bedroom so we could have privacy. Even though the mood was completely dead, I think we could both agree that we didn't want anymore surprise interruptions from any more of the pack members.
