We would survive... with some luck.

No, we would need a lot of luck.

No, actually. We'd still probably die with the luck.

My legs started turning to jelly and my face was most likely white. My hands started to shake and I almost dropped my weapons.

I had no confidence.

I was scared.

I was going to die!

No, no, no. I could not think those things. I needed something to boost my energy and strength.

I needed Jet.

My twin sister. It always seemed like she was years older than me, when it was only a few minutes.

I looked at her.

Her naturally-pale face was resolute, determined. There was no trace of tremor on her and her grip on her spear and sword was tight. She had never been more confident. Jet had always been the leading twin. Her dark shoulder-length hair was tied back, though it was already starting to fall out of her short ponytail. Her spiked fringe was just short of her eyes and her dark eyes were watching the Qwen army with disdain and... boredom?

My face was white, my hands shook, my hair fell down my back, blood pounded in my head.

We could not be more different.

And that was when she started charging to meet the Qwen army without any warning.

"Wait! Jet?!" I yelled after her. "Jet?!"

She turned for one moment and said one word, but before I could make it out it was lost in the stamping of the Qwen army.

Then I heard running behind me. My eyes widened.

I turned backward quickly and stabbed the Qwen soldier through his torso with my sword. I left him to die as I pulled my sword out, ignoring his yells of pain, and jogged forward to kill more Qwen soldiers.

I tried to forget that I was also one of them.
