I loved and hated Jet at the same time. Why did she have to keep everything from me? I knew she didn't want to burden or break me, but I was stronger than that. I knew I was stronger than that... I thought I was stronger than that...
Or rather, I hoped I was stronger than that.
Why did Jet have to hide the truth from me? She always hid her emotions too, and I didn't know why.
I didn't understand.
Her face was unreadable. Her eyes gave nothing away. I couldn't even begin to try to know her thoughts.
I thought sisters were supposed to know each other. Help each other. Back each other up. All I could see right now was Jet treating me as though I was a delicate, fragile glass ornament, ready to break any second.
I suddenly felt surge of anger, making my brain hurt.
"Jet." I pulled away from her and a look of hurt flashed across her face before it was replaced by indifference again. I bit my lip, not sure how to say it. "Jet, I have to know. What is that thing I keep seeing in my dreams? What is that voice I keep hearing? Is something wrong with me?" My voice broke towards the end. I hated not knowing. I hated being kept in the dark. I hated not even knowing who I could trust.
"No, there's absolutely nothing wrong with you, Jade," Jet said, her voice cold.
"Then what is that thing I keep seeing? Whose voice is it I keep hearing?" I cried desperately.
"Nothing, Jade. You're hallucinating," Jet said harshly, a sharp look in her eyes.
"I know I'm not, Jet!" I cried.
"Listen to me, Jade." She put her hands on my shoulders. "There is no voice. There is no thing. They're in your dreams, you hear me?" She was near shouting and it scared me.
I nodded quickly.
"Good. Training is over early today, you can make dinner."
She then left the room. Out of the window, I saw her run out of the mansion. Her raven-black wings stretched out behind her gracefully, and she took off into the night sky.
I slumped onto the ground.
When was she ever going to stop keeping secrets?
Those precious little secrets of hers.
I was starting to get mad. What was it that she had to keep from me?!
Acting out of impulse, I decided to search for the answers and marched up to her room. I began searching for anything that might give me a clue. Since she wouldn't tell me, I would find out myself.
I snooped around, but I found nothing. Sighing, I looked at everything I had already checked before. The drawers were empty. The table was clean. The bed was made neatly. The floor was swept and void of things. I groaned, then checked under the bed. Nothing.
Ugh, did Jet even own anything? Anything at all?
I rolled my eyes and tied my pale blonde hair up. Then I searched her room for the third time. Then I huffed in annoyance. There wasn't even a single thing out of place. It was as if no one lived in this room. I gave up and was heading to the door when it opened.
To reveal Jet.
I gasped loudly and my jade green eyes widened-- which was why I had been named the way I was.
Jet's eyes narrowed in suspicion.
"What are you doing, Jade? Or actually, what have you done?" she growled.
