I closed my eyes as the Qwen's sword sliced through the air, towards my neck. This was it. I was going to die.

I waited for the immense pain.

I didn't feel it.

Was I dead already?

But I could hear yells from the Qwen.

What was going on?

"OI! Who are you?! How dare you stop us?!"

Seemed someone saved me...

Jet.

My eyes snapped open.

And there she was. Decked in all her black wear, left forearm dripping with blood and her right hand stopping the blade of the Qwen in midair. Her palm was already dripping with rich, red, shining blood. Her eyes were fiercely glaring at the Qwen surrounding us, filled with bloodlust and anger.

"How dare you," she said coldly as she shoved the sword back at the Qwen who was about to kill me.

My mouth fell open. She had blocked the strike with her bare hand. It was as if she didn't feel the pain at all.

Jet threw the Qwen a cold and provocative look and looked over her shoulder at me. Unsatisfied with the number of cuts on me she turned to the Qwen and scowled at them.

"You hurt her," she spat as she folded her arms.

One Qwen sneered. "Oh, so? As if you aren't hurt yourself!" he mocked.

The corner of Jet's mouth turned up.

She was smiling on a battlefield?!

We were outnumbered about one hundred to two, and I had to admit that I was barely any help.

"I was hurt because I let myself be hurt, she was hurt because you did not fight fairly. A hundred and seventeen to one? How nice of you," Jet said sarcastically.

"Blah blah, stupid tiny girl," a Qwen taunted.

"Excuse me?" Jet snapped. "Did I hear you call me tiny?"

"Oh yeah so what?" the same Qwen asked her with a raised eyebrow.

"You are about to regret your answer, 'dear'. Go home while it's still early." Jet snorted and started laughing.

That laugh... It sounds like a demon's, it's so evil...

The Qwen still didn't take her seriously. "Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!"

Jet shrugged. "Oh well. I gave you one chance. Now it's too late. Avert your eyes, Jade."

I slipped my eyes shut. I had learnt to trust her the hard way.
