I screamed as the darkness invaded my mind.

It hurt so, so much.

Just give up, I heard Jet's voice in my mind and my eyes widened.

"What?" I gasped.

How could that be--

Just go on and give up, her voice continued. Go die.

A cry slipped out of my mouth as I heard the words.

You're useless, and you're getting in my way.

"What?" I cried.

"Jade," Jet's choked voice gasped.

"How can you even--?" A coughing fit cut me off, and I could see blood dripping out, streaked on my chin with drops on the floor.

"What did I do?"

"I'm not... useless," I cried. "Not... anymore. How can you even say that?!" I began to scream. "What is wrong with you?"

Suddenly, anger overwhelmed me and drove the darkness away.

That was when I felt the extreme rage coming from Jet. "Argh... BANVON RYDONL!" she screamed.

"W-what?" I groaned as more blood trickled down my chin.

Her eyes filled with darkness, she strode over to me, not a single step stumbling. She grabbed my hands, pulling me upright. I heard a crack from my neck as I was yanked up. A small moan of pain slipped out from between my lips.

Then my eyes widened as the darkness and iciness flowed away from me, towards Jet. I gasped and groaned.

It hurt.

I choked, more blood escaping me.

I heard Jet growl. "Banvon Rydonl... you better not have killed her, or heaven help you."

Who was Banvon Rydonl?

Jet seemed to... more than hate that person.

But I didn't have time to worry about that, because my chest started to ache, and I felt Jet lift me up in her arms like I weighed nothing. My eyes began to close, but I fought to keep them open.

The prospect of death... was actually rather inviting rather than frightening for a moment.

Until I remembered how much I valued life. And Jet.

Jet may still be lying to me, but... all those times she had saved my life, all those times she had protected me, all those rare times she had smiled and laughed; cried and sobbed...

I didn't want to lose any of that.

I didn't want to close my eyes and never open them again.

I gasped for breath, fighting to stay alive.

No! I couldn't die now!

But slowly, it became harder and harder to breathe.

Jet knew that, and I felt a worried glance on me before Jet started to run with me still in her arms. It was only a minute before we reached my bed, but it felt like millions of years.

As she placed me on my bed, I groaned again.

Was this my last breath?

Would I never see Jet smile again?

What had happened back there?

Thoughts were racing through my head, and a migraine pulsed through my mind.

Jet looked at me one last time with her fierce dark eyes, and as my eyelids drooped close, I heard one sentence: "You will die for this, Banvon Rydonl."

Then everything went black.
