Gavin’s POV
I lead Nines into the department with an amused expression. I still couldn’t look at him without giggling. Connor and Hank followed beside us. Hank didn’t look bothered at all by Nines’s change of attire and walked with his hands shoved in his pockets. Connor on the other hand looked sorry for him and gave him apologetic looks. Nines was still coughing. He coughed as we left the basement and the whole ride back to the department. It wasn’t like he had a cold or anything, he was an android. It would have irritated me if I wasn’t focused on the muzzle pressed against his face. People stared as we walked toward our shared desk. Some people looked like they were about to laugh. They’re laughter quickly died on their tongues though once Nines shot them his signature glare.
“When are you going to take it off?” Connor asks once we reach Nines and my desk.I shrug and grin, liking the power I felt over the android. I plop down into my chair and prop my feet up on my desk. “I dunno. Maybe if he begs.”
I look up at android, slightly bothered when I see his attention isn’t even on me. He held a fist up to his mouth while he contienced to cough. He furrowed his eyebrows as he seemed to be getting annoyed with all his hacking.
“For phcks sake,” I groaned, getting up. I step behind him and give him a hard slap on his back.
Four small, blueish objects fly out of Nines’s mouth, slipping between the muzzle's thin iron bars and bouncing along my desk. It’s only when I squint at them that I realize they were severed android fingers covered in thirium.
“Ah, that’s much better,” Nines says, sounding relieved as he adjusted his turtle-neck.
“What the phck!?” I cry out in shock, jumping away from Nines and looking between him and the fingers. I no doubtfully attract the attention of people around me.
Connor blinks before reaching two fingers toward the thirium coating the limbs. Hank quickly pulls him back and begins to scold him.“I believe to have swallowed the WR600’s fingers after I bit him,” Nines declares like it was the most normalist thing in the world. He had the audacity to run his tongue along his teeth, clicking his tongue before throwing the fingers away. “They were blocking my throat path and stopping me from being able to communicate.”
“Remind me to never kiss you,” I grimace.
Everyone pauses and looks at me. Nines’s face turns an almost unnoticeable soft blue as he gazes down at me. He barely lifts his eyebrows in surprise, slightly changing his always expressionless face. “You need to be reminded not to do that, Gavin?”
It’s then I realized what I just said. I can already feel the tip of ears burning and as I trip over my words in an attempt to explain myself. It didn’t help that Hank was smirking a mile a minute while he watched my performance. Finally I flip them off and shout, “Phck you!” before storming off toward the break room. I was relieved to find Tina already there, talking to Chris. He walked off as I approached and Tina nodded toward me.
“Nice jacket.”
I look at her in confusion before looking down. I haven’t even noticed I was still wearing Nines’s android jacket over my own. I tear it off only to be hit with cold air. Shivering, I instantly pull it back on and ignore Tina’s teasing while I grab a cup of coffee.
“Are you staying inside for Christmas again?” Tina asks as I stroll over to the table.I lean over it and rest my elbows against the surface, taking a sip of my hot beverage. “I don’t have anything better to do. I might go bar hopping and get drunk beyond belief.”
