Literally none this is just straight fluff.
*gasps* fluff? In a shqdamy fic? Blasphemy!Summary: Nicole has something special planned for Sally's birthday.
—
She had gotten home from a Long mission and Nicole had greeted her with a peck on the cheek and a promise of a surprise. Sally was tired, exhausted even, but she couldn't deny her girlfriend, especially not with the way she flutters her lashes and smiles up at her like she's most amazing thing to exist.
"You're lucky I love you." She sighs as Nicole hands her a blindfold, Sally raised her brow just what was she planning? But she put on the blindfold anyway and allows herself to be led with no resistance.
"Can I open my eyes yet?" Sally asks as Nicole leads her somewhere she cannot see.
"Not yet~" Nicole says, excitement and anticipation leaking into her voice "we're close, Don't worry." Sally feels when they deviate from the trail. Grass tickles her feet around her shoes
It only takes a few minutes more for them to reach the spot Nicole found while Sally was on her mission. They stop. "We're here." Nicole says, and Sally takes it as permission to take off her blindfold.
Sally opens her eyes and gasps. They stand in a small, grassy clearing surrounded by blooming sakura trees. Pink petals gently rain down on a blanket, lit by candles and surrounded by flowers. The moon and stars shine brightly in the cloudless sky, shining a spotlight on the clearing.
Sally whirls around to see Nicole, picnic basket hooked in one arm. She smiles sweetly, the way that never fails to make Sally's stomach explode into butterflies.
"I just thought... we haven't had a lot of time together recently and... well, it is your birthday so..." A light blush dusts Nicole's cheeks and she looks down shyly. She's gotten more confident lately, but her shy tendencies remain, especially when it comes to anything romantic.
Sally's eyes begin to swim, but she wipes them before tears can fall. "Nicole, I-" She almost chokes. "This is so beautiful."
Nicole's smile grows. A petal blows in the breeze and sticks to her hair. Sally leans forward and brushes it out of her lover's black locks. Nicole's hand comes up to hold Sally's, and they just stand there for a moment. Then, Nicole leads Sally backwards to the blanket. They sit down, Nicole placing the basket in the center.
The warm glow of the candlelight mixed with the moon illuminates Nicole perfectly. Sally feels warmth spread through her face and Nicole giggles to see her girlfriend's complexion darker than the petals falling from the trees.
Inside the picnic basket are sandwiches, fruit, little cakes, two glasses, and a bottle of wine. The sandwiches are very good, though Sally says that about just about anything made by her girlfriend .
They move on to the cakes. They're good. Sally takes small bites, savoring each one.
"These are really good." Sally compliments. "Did you make these yourself?"
"I had a little help." Nicole thinks about Bunnie, who had insisted she use his father's recipe.
"Well, either way, they're delicious." Sally says before biting into another.
