𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐘 - (Anakin x Reader)

𝟏𝟔 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧

Rushing back into the ballroom, I burst through the crowd of people to see padme on the floor, unconscious, dead?

Mace Windu was by her side pulling out a dart from a neck "poisonous dart" he observed

"poisonous?!" I yelled

"to a medical centre she must go, immediately" yoda proclaimed

I watched helplessly as a group of bystanders helped carry Padme's limp body over to a stretcher. no, no she can't die.

Suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I saw a figure backing away from the crowd. They were masked and kept looking back to check if anyone was following. As I began to chase after them they noticed and made a run for it.

Ripping off the outer skirt of my restrictive dress I started to chase after them.

"(y/n), where are you going?!" Anakin called out from behind me

"to catch whoever did this of course!" I called back "well? are you coming with me or not?" he smirked and quickly caught up with me.

Bursting through the entrance doors we watched the masked assassin jumping into a speeder that was already wating for him on the landing pad and fly off into the coruscant traffic.

"we need to get a speeder!" Anakin called over to me whilst already running over to the docking bay where several of the party attendees' private ships were parked.

Anakin stopped at a small motorcycle like air speeder just big enough to fit two people.

He got on at the front grabbing the wheel and beckoning me to get on the back. As soon as I was on, he blasted up into the crowd of coruscant ships, winding and racing past through the coruscant air lanes.

As the contents of my stomach threatened to resurface, I held a hand over my mouth with the other tightly gripped round Anakin's waist. I could feel him smiling.

"please don't tell me you're enjoying this" I shouted in his ear

But before he could respond I spotted the assassin swerving round down a dark lane below.

"over there!" I said pointing in his direction. Anakin immediately dived down almost vertically causing me to scream slightly, flying wasn't my thing. But luckily, I wouldn't have to worry about that much longer as the masked man now climbed off his speeder and started to make a run for it winding down various alleyways to escape our clutches.

"ill go left you go right, hopefully we can corner him in the middle" he instructed, I nodded and ran off to the right. Focusing my mind, I could hear the faint sound of footsteps retreating.

Following the sounds, I eventually came to a dark clearing and sure enough there he was. His mask only covered his mouth and nose leaving his eyes exposed and as I stared deep into them, I could see the eyes of someone who was afraid.

I slowly edged towards him as he stood there frozen, not retreating.

"we can do this the easy way or the hard way. Just tell me who you're working for and we can negotiate the terms of your arrest" I said calmly

"I won't give my information to you only to be thrown in a cell for the rest of my life. I didn't want to do this. She- she threatened my family!" his voice was shaky

"who? Who's she?" I asked still edging closer.

His fight or flight mode had been activated now as he charged towards me fists clenched. I didn't have my lightsabers on me, they didn't exactly match my dress but luckily Anakin and I had worked on hand-to-hand combat just the other day. Speaking of Anakin, where was he?

Dodging the man's first hit, I manged to get a punch on his side as he regained his stance. Now out of nowhere he went for another hit but as his fists raised, something gleamed in my eyes blinding me temporarily. On his knuckles he wore sharp spikes which were now piercing into my cheek leaving a huge gash as blood started to pour down. Stepping back and observing the blood all over my fingers, I decided to go for a more aggressive approach now. I guess he wanted to do the hard way.

Now I jumped up and spun through the air, bending then extending my legs landing a hard kick on his chin and as he fell from the impact I landed back down placing a foot harshly on his chest so that he couldn't stand back up. He struggled for a few seconds then gave in to defeat.

Anakin came sliding round the corner and analysed the situation for a second.

"found him" I smirked.

He rushed over "do we know who he's working for?"

"not yet. A she but didn't get a name"

Anakin knelt beside the man as I kept my foot firmly on his chest

"all we need is a name" he hissed

"I- I can't, she'll kill my family" the man winced

For a second, I felt sorry for him, but remembering that Padme was fighting for her life, I lost any sympathy for the man. I pressed my foot deeper into his chest, if he was lucky, he would leave with a few broken ribs

"tell us" I spat down at him.

He looked from Anakin then back up to me and quickly pulled out a small capsule from his pocket, opening it a tiny pill fell into his hand. He threw it in his mouth and swallowed reluctantly.

"what did he just do?" I looked at Anakin who now looked back up at me in confusion

"ill be dead in minutes" he sighed. I knelt beside him, opposite Anakin. I slowly pulled down the man's mask and propped him up a little in my arms. Suicide pill, there was no hope for him now, might as well give him a respectful death.

"please, just tell us who sent you. We won't let anything happen to your family" this was a promise I wasn't sure I could keep but I at least wanted to let the man die thinking they were safe.

A single tear rolled down his cheek as his eyes started to flutter shut

"A...Athena" then his body fell limp and I slowly lowered him to the ground.

My breath quickened as I stood up turning away from Anakin and the body.

"what, who is that? Do you know her"

My eyes darted back and forth; she was alive? my sister was alive?

I wanted to collapse onto the floor into Anakin's arms but instead I turned to him composing myself.

"never heard of her" I responded.
