The after party was held in the very same ballroom where Anakin first told me he loved me, where it all started in the glamorous area of Coruscant.
Before we could head inside to let the celebrations begin, Mace Windu caught up to Anakin and I. We were arm in arm sharing old memories and laughing together like there was no tomorrow when he made it to us.
I stood up straight as I noticed Mace's serious expression appearing "lovely ceremony you two... but there is no ignoring the fact you did almost get killed-"
"I really don't want to think about that right now Master Windu, I just want this moment" I admitted squeezing onto Anakin's arm. I'd had enough trauma and attempts on my life for this not to bother me so much. I would deal with the empire assassin later, but right now I couldn't care less.
"Yes, I understand. And that's exactly why I came to tell you not to worry about it for now, enjoy your evening, sorry that some of the council members will have to leave to interrogate this empire assassin however"
To be honest, not having the still imposing Jedi code breathing down my neck would be a relief so I smiled and innocently responded quickly,
"no worries"
"You will report to us tomorrow about what you find out though? We need to know who and why anyone is trying to kill her" Anakin questioned with a more concerned tone as he placed his hand on my back.
"We will report all our findings to you both, yes. Now go, enjoy your night"
It was nice seeing this, might I say...sweet side of Mace, who knew weddings made him so soft.
We both nodded to Mace as he pushed back through the awaiting guests behind us as we were the first to push open the doors of the grand ballroom.
As they flew open, the sight we saw was unfamiliar yet magnificent compared to it's previous regal, white look from last time.
What was pearl white, was replaced with a low, raven black. Gold lined the perimeter of the darker walls of the ballroom and the lights were dimmed, the bar over in the corner was a glowing purple as lamps lit up the dance floor beside it.
"it's perfect" I squealed as Anakin looked down at me, pleased.
"Everyone come in, come in, go get drinks at the bar and feel free to dance" Anakin turned round to the guests who waited for the green light to get partying.
People rushed down the grand staircase that split out into two flights of stairs with a marble balcony in between, where I stood now.
"I'm going to get us a drink" Anakin said, kissing my cheek and heading down to catch up with Rex and several others of the 501st at the bar.
A presence came beside me and sighed with joy "see now that wasn't so hard was it?" Padme said smugly, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Besides the fact I almost got killed, yeah it was a piece of cake" I scoffed.
We watched in silence for a few seconds as the party unravelled below. Happy faces flew onto the dance floor and merry conversations broke out throughout the room.
I wriggled uncomfortably in my dress slightly, catching Padme's attention.
"Yeah, forgot to tell you, your dress is perfect for ceremonies, not so much for after parties" she admitted.
As much as I never wanted to take this dress off, it was starting to itch like crazy and was heavy to walk around in as it dragged along the floor.
"I don't have anything else, so it's fine, this will do" I shrugged.
Padme raised her eyebrow and smirked at me.
