"What do you want to eat for lunch?", Taehyung asks as he gets up from the couch, looking at Jeongguk questioningly.
"You don't need to cook me anything, really.", the younger refuses immediately. Yes, he was sick but he still is the one who works for Taehyung and not vice-versa.
"I know but I insist.", the elder says, already walking over to the kitchen. "So tell me what you want to eat."
Jeongguk shrugs, "You can choose. I'm fine with everything."
Taehyung hums in acknowledgement while he starts to get all the ingredients he needs for the meal that he has in mind.
Jeongguk watches the elder working with so much enthusiasm that Jeongguk's not used to see from Taehyung.
They both spent the last hours with sharing stories from their childhoods what made them get to know each other better. Jeongguk has to admit that he loved every second of it.
He feels like he gets to know the "real" Taehyung. The one that's buried under all that sadness, the one that's kind, caring and funny. The one that can goof around but also be serious and understanding.
As Jeongguk arrived here Taehyung seemed like a cold ice block, unable to reach out to. But now, it doesn't feel like it anymore.
Taehyung needed time. He just needed time to open up to Jeongguk and the younger doesn't blame him for that. He's just glad that Taehyung's able to be more himself when he's with Jeongguk.
But the bad thing of this is that with every single genuine smile the elder sends Jeongguk, with every caring word, every fond look, the younger falls more for him.
Taehyung is the perfect man. He can make Jeongguk happy, so effortlessly. He manages to make his heart beat faster than normal just by being beside him.
When did he even fall in love? Jeongguk doesn't know. He doesn't even know if it can be called love already. But he does know that he's on the best way to it. He likes Taehyung. A lot. There's no denying.
And how he wishes for a happy ending. Once in his life, a happy ending. That's the only thing he wants. He never had luck with love. So why couldn't he be allowed to have some happiness after everything?
Taehyung deserves it after everything he's been through. And Jeongguk deserves it just as much. They both had bad things happening in the past, so why shouldn't they get some luck now?
Jeongguk hopes for it, wishes for it with his entire heart. A bit of luck to be allowed to be happy again. Completely happy.
Jeongguk's thoughts are interrupted by Chansol who starts to steer around a bit. He lets out a few whines like he has a bad dream.
With a worried look on his face, Jeongguk sits up and scoots closer to the little boy. "Shhh, it's alright. I'm here.", Jeongguk mumbles soothingly, caressing the baby's face in a loving manner.
Slowly the baby seems to calm down. Jeongguk lies back down quietly, not wanting to wake up Chansol.
He looks over to the kitchen where Taehyung's standing and looking in a cookbook. The elder's scratching his head, seeming a bit confused.
"Do you need any help?", Jeongguk asks, causing the elder to turn around and shake his head furiously. "Nope, I've got everything under control.", Taehyung declines, turning around again to continue reading the recipe.
"Okay", the younger murmurs, smiling to himself.
To Jeongguk's surprise the elder managed to finish cooking the meal sooner than expected. He brings the two dishes over to the living room, placing them on the table that stands in front of the couch.
"Okay, I tasted already and it's not that bad. It's far from your meals but I think it's edible.", Taehyung says unsurely.
Jeongguk is quick to shake his head. "Don't worry, it looks tasty. I'm sure it tastes good."
Jeongguk starts to eat and it really tastes good. "Tae, that's awesome!", he smiles.
"Thank you", Taehyung mumbles shyly.
They both eat up quickly and Taehyung cleans the table so that Jeongguk doesn't have to do it.
As Taehyung comes back to the couch, he slowly sits down beside Jeongguk, seeming a bit unsure and nervous.
"Is everything okay?", Jeongguk asks worriedly. Taehyung takes a deep breath and lifts his head to look at the younger.
"I just- I- I know I've been everything but nice to you at the start but I'm really really sorry for that. I know I've already apologized but you just didn't deserve it, not at all. I'm sorry."
Jeongguk's gaze softens as he slowly shakes his head. "I forgive you. I've forgiven you a long time ago. Please don't worry about it anymore. It's forgiven and forgotten."
"Thank you so much.", Taehyung smiles softly, looking genuinely happy and relieved. "I wanted to ask you something. And I want you to know beforehand that you don't have to say yes. It's completely up to you, I'm not mad if you say no."
Jeongguk nods in in acknowledgement, giving Taehyung an assuring smile.
"I've never been to her grave after the funeral. I just couldn't. And now, I think I'm ready to go but I don't think I'm able to do it alone. And so I wanted to ask you if you could come with me. I can understand if you say no and that's alr-"
"I'll do it.", Jeongguk interrupts the elder's rambling. "I can come with you. That's no problem."
Taehyung smiles gratefully. "Thank you so much. You don't know how much that means to me."
"You're welcome.", Jeongguk smiles as he reaches over to lay his own hand on Taehyung's. But the elder takes Jeongguk's hand immediately and intertwines their fingers.
Taehyung starts to rub circles on Jeongguk's hand, making the younger's heart beat faster as usual.
Their sweet moment gets interrupted by Chansol's cries, making them both flinch and pull apart.
"Guess he's hungry again.", Jeongguk states. Taehyung immediately gets up and rushes to the kitchen. "I'll get the milk", he shouts as he already starts to prepare the bottle.
Jeongguk reaches over to take the crying baby in his arms to calm Chansol down a bit until he gets his food. "Soon, honey, soon you get your food."
