|04| Magic Kingdom

Alex wandered down to breakfast, pancakes or waffles on the horizon of breakfast-related things. Jordan and Bear had already gone down earlier, and Dix was moseying after Alex. Just this morning, with the windows and doors firmly shut, Alex had opened a door to Medora - right into the palace, and the strain and effort pulled on her growing hunger. It was required of Dix to check in with her parents and give them updates, seeing as she was a royal princess after all.

Over the next few days, Alex would rebuild her strength to open a door for Jordan and Bear - Jordan didn't seem to want to talk to his family in the slightest, so it would only be to Woodhaven. Alex gave her room number to the waitress and she guided Alex to where Bear and Jordan were scoffing down their food. She dropped her phone onto the booth seat next to Bear and grabbed a plate to pile her waffles on, adding just the right amount of maple syrup and a pat of butter on top. Her mug with hot chocolate had Mickey grinning on the front, and she wished for part of the healing flower, laendra, to sooth her sore feet.

Even if she was able to get some, she was reluctant to take from the Meyrains, as their stocks of laendra were, and had been low ever since the war despite their original plentiful amount. A lot of it had been used during the war, and even more in the aftermath, the toll of physical injuries was terrifying. With a few experiments, Alex had found that laendra, stirred into a warm drink like hot chocolate, helped calm the brain down. Many of the previously Claimed Meyarains suffered from the effect of Aven's Claiming over their minds, and the concoction helped, though much of the mental healing had to be done by them, it made it easier.

But a conversation with Kayla had solved that problem of waiting around, because the Core Four now held a FastPass+ each. Kayla had described its uses and pros with the cost of more money. It was of no trouble to Alex, savouir of Medora, defeater of Aven, who was generously awarded despite her best attempts to refuse the money. In the end, Alex found it quite helpful, as Disney World was expensive.

She topped the waffle with a healthy serving of chopped strawberries and then headed back for her booth, a skip in her step as she thought of what they had planned for the day ahead of them. Yesterday, they'd spent the rest of the afternoon and evening exploring Hollywood Studios. After their second turn on the Tower of Terror, they'd spotted the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster opposite, and had tried it out. The afternoon passed like this, pausing to do or investigate things they liked or had interest in.

For the first half of today, they were heading for Magic Kingdom, where the famed Space Mountain resided. Alex finished her breakfast on an almost full stomach, hoping everything would digest before she spun around Space Mountain. Jordan, however, didn't heed her warning and continued eating with gusto. Dix eventually came down, a little flustered and her cheeks heated.

"Everything okay?" Jordan asked, offering her a bite of one of his many dishes. Dix shrugged, mumbling something for only Jordan to hear.

Alex decided not to intervene, and finished up her breakfast, clearing her throat. "I'll uh, just head upstairs now, get us ready for Magic Kingdom?"

The others nodded and she left the buffet with a wave to Pluto and Goofy mascots. The fresh breeze blowing in from the beach hit her face in flutters, blowing her hair back as she took the outside route to her room. In a comfy pair of sandals (which had Mickey Ears on them because they weren't planning on staying this long, so they'd bought clothes yesterday), Alex entered her room with a swipe of her card. She found a newly printed out itinerary on the coffee table, the dates jiggled around to fit Universal Studios and Disney World.

Today's weather was slightly cooler than yesterday, muggy, almost, and humid. But the wind moving through kept the weather moving along. A light layer of sunblock, a magazine and a popping chocolate later, her friends crowded in and they got ready in a shamble.
