They were running late on September first. Lily had been sitting in the car for half an hour waiting for them all to finish running around, packing last minute things. When everyone did manage to get in the car, they still had to turn around and go back at least three times. They arrived at King's Cross at quarter to eleven and dashed through the station. Lily and Teddy didn't even stop running, as the hurtled through the barrier. They quickly loaded their trunks and jumped on to the train just as it started to move. They went to their compartment, which was thankfully still empty, and collapsed into their seats.

After catching her breath, Lily looked up at Teddy who was collapsed in the seat across from hers. She took a deep breath, and asked,

"Do you think everyone made it on time?" Teddy shrugged,

"Don't know. If they didn't I'm sure they'll find a way to get there eventually,"

"Yeah, eventually," Lily nodded. She wasn't sure she had seen Harry or Ron come through the barrier, but they could have just gone in a different direction. She shifted into a fox and curled up on Teddy's lap, quickly falling back asleep.

A while later, she was shaken awake by Teddy leaping to his feet. She opened her eyes to see what he was doing. They obviously weren't there yet, so why was he up? That question was answered when she looked out the same window that Teddy was staring out of with her mouth wide open. Her eyes widened in shock at what she was seeing. Harry and Ron were flying a car to Hogwarts, and it wasn't going well. Harry was dangling out of the car with one hand, and looked like he was about to fall. Lily leaped out of Teddy's arms and shifted back to human.

"Merlin's Beard! What on earth are they doing?" Why would they fly a car to Hogwarts? And where were the adult Weasleys? She sighed in relief when Harry managed to get back into the car. She slumped back into her seat,

"Bloody idiots, why wouldn't they invite us?" Teddy also looked rather annoyed,

"Don't know, but they are definitely bloody idiots."

A couple of hours later, Lily was laying in front of the fire in Gryffindor common room, planning pranks. She had already scolded Harry and Ron for not inviting them, and was now just happy to be back at Hogwarts. Tomorrow classes would restart, and she was extremely excited for their first prank. They had already set it up, and it was set to go off at breakfast tomorrow. Their target was of course, Gilderoy Lockheart. He was a stuck up git, and they didn't want him to ruin the fun of Hogwarts. Therefore, they were going to ensure that the fun of Hogwarts was on ly added to by him being there. Honestly, who wouldn't find it fun to have an incredibly stuck up professor who can't even do the simplest of spells? Well, most of her class though that, but Lily didn't! She and Teddy too of course found it amazingly fun to have a professor as thick as him, because there was no way he would figure out how to undo any of their pranks, only making them more hilarious. She hopped up from her spot, hugged Teddy goodnight, and raced to her dormitory so that she could get to sleep at a reasonable hour. Normally she didn't care about that, but she had something to look forward to, meaning she would go to great measures to make sure it happened.

The next morning Lily woke up with an excited grin on her face, which was not normal because she was definately not a morning person. This morning was different though, she woke up incredibly early, in fact, it was still dark outside. She felt somewhat bad for Ron because he was sure to get an awful letter from home, if not a howler. She hummed to herself as she pulled on her robes. She tied her tie loosely around her neck, and left her shirt untucked as always. Then she headed to the bathroom to do her hair. As usual it took around an hour for her to do her hair, and by then the other girls were beginning to wake up.

When Hermione woke up, she stared at Lily in shock. It was barely seven in the morning and she knew it took her an hour to do her hair, and yet there it was, neatly done, and the girl was smiling brightly. Hermione was instantly suspicious, either Lily had changed a lot more than she let on over the summer, or she had something planned. Hermione was betting on the second one.

Lily waved merrily and skipped downstairs, linking arms with Teddy, who was also not a morning person. He too had woken up early, not as early as Lily, but still quite early for someone who enjoyed sleeping in as much as he did. They skipped through the halls together with their arms linked and practically shouting stupid songs. They were still singing when they reached the great hall and showed no signs of stopping. Only when Lily was sat at Gryffindor table, did she notice the food. She conteplated to herself, food or song? Song or food?

Let's eat first and then we can go back to singing, I want to be able to eat before our detentions stretch into third year. Teddy nodded in agreement and they both piled their plates high with food. Only when they were ready to begin eating did they stop singing. Lily ate mountains of food happily. She loved food, and worked out enough that she was still quite fit. When she was done with her food, the great hall was much fuller than it had been when they arrived. She smirked and exchanged a glance with Teddy before they both broke into song again.

Everyone in the great hall turned to look at them. Lily knew their singing was obnoxious. It was one of the main reasons they did it. She smirked with a glint in her eye that everyone knew far too well. The people nearest to her and Teddy inched away from them, and a few people actually dashed from the hall, catching the attention of the teacher. Minnie glanced up from her food and noticed the extra space around Lily and Teddy. She rolled her eyes discreetly, and hoped that she was still their favorite teacher. Lily noticed the slightly worried look on her face and waved her hands under the table. She watched as Minnie's face changed from worried to shocked, to amused. Lily had rearranged the food on her plate to spell out,

'Don't worry Minnie, you're still our favorite. If you wear the jumper.' The jumper meaning the one that Lily had gotten her for Christmas last year. It read,

'I am under the pranking protection of Shadow and Flame' Lily was quite proud of that jumper. She saw Minnie raise her wand, and a few seconds later, the jumper came zooming into the great hall. Minnie rolled her eyes, and pulled the jumper on over her robes, making everyone look at her strangely. Nobody had ever seen her wear anything other than her emerald green robes. Minnie looked over at where Lily and Teddy were sitting and Lily gave her a thumbs up. Teddy leaned over and asked,

"How'd you get her to actually wear it?" Lily smirked as she pulled out her camera,

"I told her she was still our favorite as long as she wore it." Teddy laughed and they high-fived. Just then, a puff of smoke surrounded the head table near where Lockheart was sitting, along with where Snivellous was. When it cleared everyone burst out laughing. Lockheart was now sporting Snivellous' greasy black hair, while he was sporting Lockhearts blond curls. Lily managed to stop laughing in time to take multiple pictures of the scene. She glanced down at one of them and burst out laughing again.

Snape was at one end of the table with Lockheart's hair, Lockheart was at the other end with Snape's, and Minnie was near the middle in her jumper. She immediately stowed them away in her bag so that she could add them to her pranking scrapbook for later.

Lily and Teddy did indeed each get more detentions. Considerably less than they thought they would, but enough all the same. They linked arms and skipped down to Herbology, still singing at the top of their lungs.
